rats gnawing at your food ? thats just disgusting , where do you live in the twelfth century?

It is 21st century.. and there was no need for that.

    ******************

I am in a 2nd floor flat and get mice ocassionaly - with my odl cat I would only know by finding a dead body with no head on the kitchen counter (yukkk). Tiger used to catch/kill/display them like that. No more than 3-4 per year but still...

With the baby cats, do not know yet - will see.

Are you sure it is a rat and not a mouse? You did not see it, did you?

Whatever it is, hope you sort this out soon

    Twit.

Be careful OP, rats can give a very nasty bite to the cats too. My mum has had the odd rat, but outside her house in her shed as she lives by a farm. She uses rat poison.

It wouldn't put poison down with cat in close proximity, while cats will leave dead animals a freshly died mouse or rats may be thought of as decent snack, also festering dead rat under the kitchen cupboard doesn't sound like much fun. I would say traps/ letting the cats do the work. Move all food stuff into high cupboards and sealed containers.
  • My aunt and uncle had a mouse in the house last yr put all sorts down to try to get it and nothing they bought some plug in things and have never had any more problems they emit a high pitch that we cant hear and they have one upstairs and one downstairs just in case
On the countdown mortgage will be paid off this year if I keep paying bit extra fingers crossed fully paid out by July :j

don't feed the cats for a few days so they get hungry and remember their hunting instincts, be prepared though as if they are "she" cats they will bring the "kill" to you. My GF is the only woman that I know who is not scared of mice or rats ;o)))))

If you do go for the ultrasonic stuff - pls check that this will have no effect on your own pets as this can be heard by cats and dogs and is very unpleasant....

I would either go for letting the cats do their buisness, making sure that ALL foodstuff is put temperally into another place, making sure that no crumbs etc is left on floor. Put cats bed into kitchen and this is where they stay until the offender is caught, making sure door is always closed .(this is what we did with a mouse, dont know what happened but never came back )

You would alos need to block any enterances into your house before you do this or it will just go out then back in.

    Or

go for poison and lock the kitchen door so cats are removed from area until Mr rat is caught

Good luck on catching him or her and future babies:)
