You need to be wary if on an IPStream connection (i.e. BT, or any other provider throught BT exchange kit. Too many disconnections and the dreaded DLM may kick in and lower your IP profile, i.e. reduce your sync speed by raising your snrm. Most LLU providers don't use this type of line monitoring/adjusting.......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
I have found that if I leave the router on continuously then over time my speed gradually falls, contrary to what the BT "technician" says. Switching off every night then on again in the morning seems to maintain a constant speed throughout the day only dropping off in the evening as more users in the area start connecting.0

Turning it off won't slow down your connection the next time you turn it on. This is based on my experience doing this everyday for the past 4 years. I turn my PC and Router off every night.0

A recent thread on the same subject. The consensus was that long periods of down time made no difference but best to avoid lots of short term Off-On cycles (unless trying to solve a connection problem).Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc0

Looks like Gunjack posted the facts
The thing he missed, syncing around the middle of the day often results in a faster connection (once the exchange catches up with the sync speed), and summer is a little higher than winter. < Only relates to ADSL connections, not ADSL2+/LLU/cable etc...Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -

I do a lot of streaming and online gaming, so if there were any slowdowns/hangs I'd notice them and everything always runs perfectly within 2 mins of the router being switched back on. I turn mine off every night (Turn everything in the house off (apart from the fridge), really saves on the energy bills).0
