I need to report a dangerous dog
Comments

Well what a waste of time that was!
The community officer didnt ring back, so I reported it to the police. They took all the details and went to visit the family.
They just rang me back now, the dog owners arms are bandaged up he told the police 'he hit. the dog around the head untill it bit him!!!' (the officers exact words) the police have said there is nothing they can do.
The baby looks fine, the dog looks ok, he was 'spoken to' and thats the end of it.
I asked what about the other attacks? He didnt know anything about them, the infomation wasnt passed on!
I told him about the woman needing skin grafts etc and he said it sounds as though the dog was protecting him, and she mustn't of reported it. Well thats ok then!!
He said the owner seemed of 'very low intelligence' and there were no laws regarding keeping a dog.
I said but he just told you he hit it, till it bit him. Cant you ring the RSPCA and get it rehomed? He said " I dont know how I would go about that" exact words!
He said dont hesitate to ring back if I have any more infomation! I dont think I'l bother thanks lol!£100 - £10,0000 -

I didn't think the Police would be able to do much, please contact the Social Services and express your concerns OP.Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0
-
Please contact the local animal rescue, I'm worried for the poor dog now. He hit it around the head till it bit him? Poor dog.Sigless0

Definitely call social services and the RSPCA quoting the police officers comments about him hitting the dog. What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0

I think I would put this in writing in a complaint to a senior officer. Of course there are laws about how pets are treated!
Now the offender has told a police officer that he hit the dog repeatedly, the RSPCA should be able to go straight to a prosecution. Tell the RSPCA about the situation.
I would also pass on your concerns to Social Services.0 -
The only people that will get involved in this case is the Social Services, I am surprised that the police got involved as were I live they wud tell you to ring the Social Services...... and the RSPCA are a total waste of time......and if they did get involved they wud want pic's and a lot more ....... but be careful as you say they are not NICE people you dont want a brick thou your window so something happening to your dog.....0

This is unbelievable. They are committing animal cruelty AND have a proven aggressive animal in the home (though who can blame it if it gets beaten) with a child and the police can't do anything??? I think that's utter rubbish. People have had dogs taken off them for vaguely resembling pit bulls (even if they aren't pit bulls) even if the dog hasn't done anything wrong, and these police can't remove a proven aggressive animal???
Contact social services! Some people should not be allowed to breed. Nor own animals.0 -

???
I have a staffie.... I would have to be hitting him for an awful long time for him to even try and bite me. I had a foster child (who sounds like he had a silmilar family to this) who has punched him, bitten his nose and tried to cut his ears with sissors and he never even attempted to retailiate... so this dogs actions worries me.
I would be contacting the RSPCA (repeatedly if necessary) and social services
Poor dog and poor child....What an example to set0 -
Jeez, the Staffie I had, you could have hit him repeatedly over the head with a baseball bat and all you would have done was break the bat or get a sore hand, then you might have got a lick on the hand from him - they've got skulls like breezeblocks - so to hit it enough to get it angry?
Yes, I would complain that he appears unaware of the laws regarding both animal cruelty and animal attacks. I would also contact social services for the child and the woman, as to keep a dog that has savaged a woman and could be a threat to a small child could easily be seen as domestic abuse as well as neglect of the child.
Some people.....I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
