I need to report a dangerous dog

I still don't get why if the attacking is as serious as stated the authorities have not acted themselves. Thats my point.

I mean really and logically if everything is as stated, the womans had skin grafts and the man was carted to hospital by ambulance why was the dog not removed a long time ago by the police. If three members of the same family are treated for dog related injuries it doesn't take much of a brain to realise they can't all have been unlucky enough to have met a rogue stray that attacked and there must be a common denominator ie the dog in the house.

No-one is saying a dangerous dog should be in a house with a child but this story to me doesn't add up.

  • The hospital wouldn't be comparing notes on patients of adult age. Nobody will know, even if they did admit it was their own dog that did it.

Wonder if the dog is trained to be vicious, like a fighter? That gets police interested. Especially with small children involved.

Thanks for the helpfull posts, just an update. I have rang the community police officer and left a message, they will ring back within 24 hours.

I'm sorry I dont know what exactly you think doesn't add up?

I have told you all the facts as I know them, they are 110% true.
Why the police havent been involved before I dont know.

I certainly have nothing against staffys, the fact that this dog is a staffy is completely irrelevant to be honest. I LOVE dogs I have a doberman myself. It upsets me to think the dog is driven for some reason to attack like this, it must be scared, they are not a 'nice' family and use the dog as a 'weapon'.

I cant keep quiet any longer because if that baby gets hurt it will the fault of everyone who knows about the attacks and did nothing (me included).

    Thanks again

  • You've done what you can, Miamoo. Hopefully this will be sorted without any repercussions for the child. It was the right thing to do.

I'm not sure any law has been broken here (apart from the law of not having common sense!) so don't know what the Police can do about it.

In your position OP, I'd contact the LA Animal Warden and ask them if they can visit the owners and educate them, and also contact Social Services and tell them the child is at serious risk.

I certainly wouldn't be doing nothing.
Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D
  • Can I just ask if you know these facts personally or have you been told by someone else? The reason why I ask is because I have been victim of a ''concerned neighbour''.......

I was reported 4 times to the RSPCA for cruelty and owning a dangerous dog. Each time it was found that the person who called had heard from a friend who had heard from a friend whos friend had seen..and so on........

The reports were that I left my savage Pit Bulls outside permanently in all weathers with no shelter and so on.....I own 2 soppy mastiffs who have a run in the garden and live in my utility room....

These reports caused me real distress and made me wonder who was watching me and my family....

Make sure you are sure of the facts before you intervene....If you are sure then good luck.

while I agree with maximumimpact I also feel that as you are probably a 'close' neighbour you have seen for yourself the injuries caused?
its good that you have reported it to the police, but as another poster said, its a child protection matter really - if the adults choose to live with a dangerous dog then that is up to them. the child has NO choice! and even if you are mistaken, its better to contact social services and tell them and tell them also that you have reported it to the police than to do nothing and then regret it! I would rather be the target of a mistaken phone call and have the police and social workers call round and KNOW that someone cared about a child tbh!

I wouldn't worry about who was watching you - the facts were so wrong that no-one can be paying close attention!
