Snow on car

I was doing 50mph, traffic was reasonably down to one lane only due to ice, and it was a Jag, not a BMW. I HAD to let him pass yes, this involved me pulling into ice for some trumped-up idiot with no understanding of road safety to swing by.
He was trying to do 80mph and you had to let him pass??
Stop having a go at BMW drivers, we're not the only ones who have rwd. I've seen just about every make and model stuck at the side of the road including 4x4's. Thankfully I haven't got stuck yet by keeping my speed low and leaving a long gap to the vehicle in front in case they get into difficulty.
My major gripe is the number of people who don't even bother putting lights on in the fog (I counted 18 this morning between Hillsborough and Knocknagoney). If lights and indicators were optional extras I don't think more than 50% of the cars here would have them.0 -
I don't think the threat of penalty points and a fine will stop people. Before I had read the other posts I thought it was true as my dads neighbour had got the fine and points. I work in a petrol station and thought I would try and warn drivers about the 'Fine' as I explained to one woman who had around 3ft of snow on the roof of her car and only the windscreen cleared that she could get said fine her response was ' if the police want it off THEY can take it off' now if it was a bald tyre would she be thinking the same her car is HER resposability. She also said 'sure it will fall off when i'm going down the motorway' I said yes it probably will onto another car, very clever. I think some people just think of where they are going, what they are doing and screw everyone else.:mad: ok rant over :rotfl:0

but it is true
its just that some people think a law has been invented especially for snow due to the recent weather, it hasnt, there was always a law relating to things falling off the car, weather they be man made or made by nature.0 -

If you are able to travel anywhere, it may be worth getting the snow off!
IF your friend REALLY got three points and a £60 for snow on the roof of their car, they really should contact their local police station. My BIL is a police man and there is NO specific law relating to snow on the roof of a car. The ONLY exception would be snow obstructing a windscreen, number plate or lights.
Its a known urban myth.0 -
Whilst there may be no specific snow clause... if the condition of the vehicle is dangerous then tough. If snow on your car is considered dangerous, then tough. If blacking out your windows leads to your vehicle being dangerous, then tough. If you have been done for having snow on your vehicle, maybe, instead of complaining about it, you should consider that you were probably driving around in a dangerous vehicle. You should consider what would have happened if the snow had slid onto your screen and you had killed a person... this thread just goes to show that people are unable to take responsibility for their actions and that these small penalties do not work. Maybe we should fine people 10x as much for things like dangerous driving, at least then they might get the !!!!!!!g message.
Thumbs down to all you avoiders.Always overestimating...0
