Snow on car

This is NOT true - this is merely an urban legend which is doing the rounds at the moment.
Although obviously it is a wise idea to clear your car of snow before driving.
This was reported in the daily mirror newspaper today so appears that it is not just an urban legend !The loopy one has gone :j0 -
it is definately not an urban legend, it is 100% true, just because the law doesnt state "snow" specifically, doesnt mean that you can have it flying off your roof into the path of other drivers.
people wont learn unless they get points and fines, and i seriously hope people who try to get their points reviewed dont get it overturned, then there is no point in any of us making any effort whatsoever, people will just crash and nothing will be done about it!0 -

I wonder how many people who drive with snow on their cars are the very same people that moan about their council not clearing the snow from the roads. We've had snow up here for nearly 4 weeks now and I've lost count of the number of times I've seen snow flying off cars onto clear roads for me to drive over.
There was a text doing the rounds a few weeks ago stating that the police were issuing a fixed penalty fine to drivers who have not cleared the snow. Shortly afterwards the police took the effort to go on TV to say that they weren't doing this. How stupid of them!! If people think that they're going to get a fixed penalty fine then let them think that so they take the time to clear their car!!!
Another thing that's seriously annoyed me over the last 4 weeks with so much snow and ice on the roads is the idiots who have NO idea how dangerous the roads are!!! They say you should leave 10x longer stopping distance between you and the car in front so why do I have idiots sitting on my rear bumper?0 -
The idiot in a Jag on the M2 yestarday night- trying to do around 80mph, while in the overtaking lane, and repeatedly skidding because you can't handle the car and ice- not a fantastic combo!
Looked behind me saw his headlights weaving everywhere- happily let him past.0 -
I got stuck at a road junction yesterday evening on an incline turning onto a main road. Stupid b behind me was right up tight on my rear bumper and a white van man similarly behind her, no space to go back for a better go at it. Eventually got a bit of grip but neither of them were for moving!0

you would think with it being near christmas and everyone being in the same boat with the driving conditions that people would be a bit more considerate, but apparently not. i cant stand people behind me that close at the best of times, but on hills in the icy roads, not good!0

He was trying to do 80mph and you had to let him pass??
Stop having a go at BMW drivers, we're not the only ones who have rwd. I've seen just about every make and model stuck at the side of the road including 4x4's. Thankfully I haven't got stuck yet by keeping my speed low and leaving a long gap to the vehicle in front in case they get into difficulty.
My major gripe is the number of people who don't even bother putting lights on in the fog (I counted 18 this morning between Hillsborough and Knocknagoney). If lights and indicators were optional extras I don't think more than 50% of the cars here would have them.0 -
