Always seek out the discounted items shelves in Boots, after you have been to the advantage point machine of course!

This is my favourite part of boots, I can't resist going in to see what's available if I'm passing, there's always cosmetics & hair products marked down and I can't remember last time I paid full price for suncream thanks to this shelf! It's very easy to find in smaller branches, but I've never been able to find it in larger ones.
  • Marin, what suggestions do you have for a Boots Tart who

A Has severe problems seeing the Advantage Point so basically only uses it to see ifo nline order receiptshave come in or with a relative, as it is near to impossible to get a member of staff to help out unless the machine actually wants to break or eat my card

B The branch you go to rigidly sticks to the *one voucher per transaction* rule, meaning you cannot do as you do, using machine coupons in conjunction with mailed-out couopons

BTW Remember i think Boots have stopped even vaildating receipts so make sure you don't lose/froget your card! The person beside me at the next checkout didn't have a card and the cashier just went on at her *oh do you not want one?* - i naughtily wanted to steal her points as she spent over £8, but knew that was against the T+Cs!

I've noticed in the last few months that the offers in the machines are rubbish. I regularly check for good deals (eg 100 points on stuff less than £1) but there never seems to be anything like that anymore. Are the Advantage Point offers the same for everyone or do they differ from person to person, or store to store?
  • I got a bargain the other day in Boots. They were selling their cosmetic bags off with all the products inside. These were originally given away as promotional gifts at Christmas. They had them on sale for £5 each Or you got three for a tenner. I bought three and sold them on Ebay for a profit. The cosmetic bags had a selection of Boots Number 7 range including a full size eye shadow which retails at £6. Plus lipstick miosturizer and a mirror. The bag itself is a good one. Check out there may still. be some around.

Also might be worth buying online if my (one and only) experience is anything to go by - I ordered a bath spa and 4 packs of Christmas cards, but received bath spa, 3 packs christmas cards and a DVD player. Repeated emails to customer services went unanswered, apart from the odd automated reply, and I can't ring them up as they only open 9-5 Monday to Friday - when I'm at work.
Finally wrote them a letter after Christmas and since I still have no reply have donated DVD player to charity raffle.
Still would like my 4th pack Christmas cards though :-)

You spent twenty thousand francs on this !!!!!!??

  • I did a spell one Christmas working in Boots and had the explanation of how the scheme works - the offers are to some extent tailored to you but there are usually ones which everyone gets. The more you use Boots the better the offers get I'm afraid. I shouldn't think that has changed. The points can only be used on selected items but I used them last year to buy squeezy packs of suncream which were already on 3 for 2 and with only £1.49 worth of points got 6 handy sachets for just under £1.50. Watch out for the Soltan suncream squeezies as they are ideal for taking to the beach and they are usually on 3 for 2. Also being Boots own brand Savers (which is just across the road from Boots here) don't stock them.

  • Here's another money-saving promotion that Boots often have. Recently, if you spent £15 on any products in Boots you received a £5 voucher to spend on certain products, this time it was skincare from Roc, L'Oreal, No7 etc. I managed to get 3 of these vouchers and had 3 packs of my usual face wipes worth £15 in total for free! Excellent promotion!

  • If you have a pay-as-you-go mobile, you can use your advantage card when you top up. I always buy my top-ups from Boots then use my free points to get other stuff for free! ;)
  • This is strange - i used to get lots of emails from boots.com but have had hardly any this year DESPITE ordering not once, not twice, but three times this year - so i have no way of knowing if there are any instore offers going on or not.

I cannot see to read the magazine but am annoyed that the branch i have to pay £7 in taxis there and back has had it for a fortnight and a half yet the branch i can walk to still hasn't got it in, so i cannot benefit from any coupons in there because i ain't paying £7 just to get a *free* magazine.

I am also cheesed off because some people have recently got Double Points vouchers whereas Ms. I spend a Fortune only got a booklet with money-off or so many points coupons. Guess what? The ones I want to use I cannot use in the branch I can walk to because they don't have it, so just to use their supid mailed-our vouchers I will have to either pay £7 in taxis to get to the food-stocking branch or bin them!

Not a happy bunny today, because my online-order points haven't come in yet, even thought the item's already came!

    Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr @ Boots.

It's all well and good removing the fingerprints off the machine but i *still* can't see it.
