December 2010 was ‘almost certain’ to become the coldest since records began in 1910

‎2010: Another record breaking winter. So what happened to global warming?

Temperatures plummeted to -10c (14f) last night prompting the UK’s Met Office to state that this December 2010 was ‘almost certain’ to become the coldest since records began in 1910.

I'm no expert on global warming and am not very opinionated on the subject. But does one cold month in the UK really disprove a theory that the entire global is slowly heating up?

It's a bit like one house selling for more than the average in a falling market and using this fact to question whether the falling market is actually happening.

How are you anyway Ash? You broken up for Christmas yet? I imagine December has felt like one long holiday what with all the school closures.
  • Sweet Jesus son of Mary, she has access to impressionable children too. What's happened to this country education when dumb ignorance goes before investigative analysis and research?

I think Ash is a he. Conspiracy theory nuts tend to always be male, like heavy metal fans and people who play World of Warcraft. Just one of those things. Do conspiracy theories appeal more to males for some reason?

And Ash isn't a teacher, he's still at school.

The cold snap has turned into the big freeze. I wonder what the media will call cold weather next week ?

The irony is that if global warming redirects the gulf stream, the UK could become much colder as the earth warms up.

I posted this in the 2011 prediction thread as well, but it works just as well here; if posting once is good, posting twice must be great! :)

Dragging the subject onto house price predictions, people in the UK realise that miserable cold and being buried under a foot of snow is actually the norm for most of the UK during Winter, and the last couple of decades have been unusual. Accordingly, the price of houses increases the further south you go (even more than it does already) and in all areas that get affected by snow isolated houses way out of town that become effectively cut off over Winter shed both price and value (yes, they are two different things) faster than the lib dems dropped their convictions (little bit of politics there:) )
