Informing insurance co of accident and claim on another policy

It is unusal not to see all these details noted down somewhere in the paperwork - maybe they have a document separate to the schedule that lists drivers details.
If you can't find it and want to be on the safe side over all this, send them a recorded delivery letter confirming your notification of the claim and ask them to confirm receipt of this.0 -
This is my wife's policy we are talking about here but I also have a policy with Direct Line myself and it is the same layout as my wife's one. No info really other than name and address, phone and d-o-b and no other document with it with any info on.
I found the last renewal letter and there's nothing on that either. It does say on the renewal letter 'you must tell us of any ...' so obviously they only need to be told when the renewal letter comes in and only if renewing. Best plan would be to tell them at renewal time that she's not renewing then just renew online instead and enter the claim details then, that way there shouldn't be any blunders by them0 -
So (from the info given) there are 3 cars. 2 insured by your wife and 1 by you. Your son is a named driver on at least 1 car. Sounds like some fronting may have been going on.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair0 -

It sure does.. especially when you throw in my daughters' cars and who the named drivers are on their policies and my son's own car with me as a named driver and my wife's car for business use0 -
That's what makes all the informing the insurer of any accident a real pain. Even if someone scuffs your car and drives off, is it worth chasing it for the sake of a £50 "chips away", and then declaring it for 5 years on maybe 4 or 5 policies, with a possible loading on each?
Of course all accidents must be reported, so obviously we all will anyway.0
