Informing insurance co of accident and claim on another policy

As there is no notifiable change it looks like you’ve been charged £20 for wasting their time.
You get reprinted (but identical) documents, they get £20. Nice work if you can get it0 -

Yeah, £23 it is too. They will be getting a letter asking for an explanation. If they are charging extra then they should at least explain why. It would have been better not to tell them at all0 -

Yep, that’s a good general rule with insurance companies. Read your policy and tell them only what you need to and only when you need to (at renewal in your case).
Anything else only confuses them and costs you money.
Good luck with your letter, I don’t see how they can defend but wouldn’t be surprised if they charge another £23 for re-issuing your original documents.:D0 -
Cheers, I will post back with any explanation they might give, could be a couple of weeks now though0

Well a reply of sorts has arrived and it says...
"With reference to the adjustment to your premium, we enclose a revised Schedule."
The Schedule is identical to the last two apart from the Premiums section which says 'Refund via Direct Debit £23.10'
So, no explanation but a refund0 -
After all their misadministration has the original issue been resolved?
(You were notifying them of a claim by a named driver, but when the new schedule originally arrived the claim wasn't included against the named driver?? With this new identical schedule, aren't you now back at square one - the claim is still not shown against the name driver)0 -
good result, just make sure the incident is notified when you renew0

So it seems (back to square 1). Where on the Schedule would that be if they had done it, what section?
These are all the sections..
Policy No.
Policy Holder
Policy Details
Car Details
Premiums
Named Drivers
Excess Amounts
Additional Accidental Damage Excess Amounts for Young/Inexperienced Drivers
Personal Accident
Additional Benefits
Cover Limits
Admin Fees
.. or would a new section be added?good result, just make sure the incident is notified when you renew
yes it will be done only when renewal time comes0 -
Somewhere in the schedule they usually have driver and named driver details. In there it will have names/d-o-b/access to other cars/occupation/convictions (or state no convictions)/claims (or state no claims) in last x years/etc0
-
The only thing like that is the Policyholder section which shows d-o-b and address and phone and that's all.
No doubt they will have been confused by the fact that my son was a named driver on another policy with another company but not with them0
