Ahem. Thanks guys.
I did actually put antifreeze in.
Have checked oil repeatedly and is at same level, looking dark and shiny like oil does. No creamy, foamy, chicken soup, vomitty effect yet.
Coolant is once more all gone though so have admitted defeat and booked it in to garage monday.
I know all about the Rover reputation and was steered away from buying the car 3 years ago but it's done me great.
So, any cars with head gaskets made of kryptonite out there???0 -
dont check the oil with the dipstick, remove the oil filler cap and look under it, this is where you will find the creamy oil mix:A R.I.P. Dave "Simmo" Stimpson.....:AA friend, A Gentleman, and a Damn good pool player. You will be missedone in prison, not long enough0

You'll also find it on the dipstick, depending on how far gone the gasket is! Some cars have creamy oil mixure on the filler cap and have perfectly okay head gaskets. Fords and Vauxhalls are terrible for this. On the Ford 1.0, 1.1 and 1.3 litre OHV engine, because of the layout of the engine, which meant air would flow/hit the top of the engine, this caused the creeamy mixture, also causing the oil breather hoses to form the same creamy substance.the_big_fact_hunt wrote: »dont check the oil with the dipstick, remove the oil filler cap and look under it, this is where you will find the creamy oil mix0
