  • Like I said.

Next check your oil level. If it is higher than it should be, you have found your missing water.

Tell us that you didn't top it up with water? It requires anti freeze solution.

I would take it to a local garage and get them to check it out for you.

    Undo the oil filler cap

My bets on Headgasket failure too

If you've got a creamy looking substance on the cam's or filler cap then your head gasket is gone.

Rover head gaskets are made out of chocolate
If Adam and Eve were created first

The Rover K-Series engine (which your car has) is renouned for having a weak Head Gasket. If the oil is a sort of light brown colour (a bit like chicken soup!), it'll be the headgasket. Does the temp. guage rise as it should do?

    Wow are you a mechanic?

    Have you worked at Rover?

Absolutely follow this advice. To not do so may result in further more serious damage to your engine.

No, and no again, have had many dealings with Rovers when I was in the 'trade'. The best thing Rover ever done was use Honda engines in their cars. Maybe if Rover still had ties with Honda in 2005, they'd still be around now?
  • Not so. The best thing Rover ever did was put Buick engines in their cars.

Not so, the best thing Rover ever did was to go out of business.
