If I really thought I had food poisoning I would go to the doctor to identify the source and ensure that nobody else suffered needlessly. I wouldn't go for most minor ailments, but an issue of public safety is hardly a 'little' thing. One of my friends was hospitalised by food poisoning recently and when he told people where he had eaten, several stories came out of other people experiencing the same thing - he wasn't best pleased that people had known there was a problem and just not bothered to take action, meaning that he ended up ill for nearly a month.

Oysters are a notorious source of poisoning, growing, as they do, in the sea potentially near sewerage outlets. Not sure what I'd do. It might well depend on how much I liked the restaurant. If I wasn't interested in going back, nor feeling particularly public-spirited, I'd probably do nothing; just think myself lucky it wasn't any worse than a bout of sickness. If I liked the place I'd mention it. If it was food poisoning, chances are others have been affected. For the fact alone perhaps it's worth mentioning. I might be wrong but food poisoning might well be a notifiable disease; i.e. if you'd visited your GP, he/she would be duty bound to report it.

Yeah, they definitely try to site oyster farms near to sewage outlets... Oysters even from the cleanest water can cause food poisoning. Eating them raw can increase the risks even further.
