Did anybody else eat the same food as you?

    Were they ill?

Now that your symptoms have passed it will be very difficult to prove the cause - might be worth reporting it to Environmental Health anyway, in case there is a pattern of people becoming ill after visiting the same place.

As you are so knowledgeable, what do you suggest?

Stay off the cheese soups in these Italian places! and go easy on the pop

crtystaltipps had the best advice: report it to your local environmental health. they keep a log of all reports and if they get repeat reports about the same place they will investigate it.

obviously this system relies on people reporting their cases, so you should report it.

Norovirus perhaps, there's a lot of it around and the meal would just be a coincedence.

I've explained why I didn't go to the doctor - do you go to the doctor at every little ailment? Thank fully everyone doesn't, otherwise the surgeries would be full - maybe that's why I can no longer get an appointment for several days. I also had to go to work - no excuse for me to take a day off!

However, If you look at my OP, I was asking advice - If the is a benefit to go to the doctor immediately, and that is the general advice, then next time I'll go. As you are so knowledgeable, what do you suggest?

Herein lies the answer - by your own admission, it was no big deal. Get over it, move on ...
    Gone ... or have I?

I agree, but it's the other movements that I'm worried about!

So DO people go to their doctor after every such occurence?
