Play.com very slow delivery

Has no one been reading the papers/watching the news?! There are backlogs of thousands at delivery depots and the RM across the country!

I'm still waiting for something from Play.com dispatched on 1st December. I did get another item from them yesterday dispatched on 3rd December so I am keeping my fingers crossed that the CD will get here before Christmas. I don't think the problem is just with Play.com as deliveries are all over the place at the moment.

They sent something on the 1st to me and because of the snow and the fact Royal Mail are prioritizing to get less complaints it took until the 16th to get it.

I did ring the sorting office and ask if they had anything for me and they said no and then it arrived the next day. Don't know if it did anything but it may be worth phoning your local delivery office and asking?

bombarding DOs with phone calls does nothing to help clear packets

You might not have heard, but apparently there's been a bit of snow about.

All post is being affected. It's the luck of the draw whether your particular parcel gets through on time, Play are as much affected as Amazon and any other retailer.

Yes, it's been all over the news about how terrible the weather has been. To be honest, I think this has just been seized upon by companies who have been unprepared or struggling to cope with the usual Christmas rush, but that's just me.

Even before the bad weather started Play were quite awful with their deliveries so I was just wondering whether this is my bad luck because of the items I've ordered or whether other people have been experiencing this too. As I already wrote in my original post, I ordered other items more than a week later also coming from the Channel Islands and those have managed to arrive fine.

I think amazon deliveries are getting back on track, of course they will do all within their power to get deliveries out on time for xmas because otherwise it will just cost them money.

I ordered some thing beginning of the week, and tracking has seen them come from scotland down to the south west depot on one day (i live in glos) so i would expect them here in at the beginning of next week.

Also my friend has ordered something the 2nd which didnt get delivered until the 15th she did get an email from citylink saying the backlog was clear and deliveries where back to normal, fingers crosssed it stays that way.

**Christmas present farce** Play are absolutely useless! Ordered Music DVD on 5/12 - still not arrived 19/12. Chased twice - Play not bothered.Now having to come up with another idea for Christmas. Prices may be competitive but this is irrelevant if the product never arrives. Trying to cancel order now but, 'surprisingly'(!!) not getting much response from Play. Will not use again.

I ordered with Play.com on Monday of last week & both of my parcels have arrived already. To be honest I think it's down to the luck of the draw & where you live. I'm in the south. Most delivery companies seem to be trying their best under very difficult circumstances. I really hope you all get your deliveries in time.

I've got the same proble with play.com, item sent 7th December still not received but items sent 6th and 9th Demcember got here fine.
I expect it is more a case of problems with Royal Mail not delivering items in order rather they are delivering the ones that have just arrived and items already there getting pushed further and further back down the queue. To make matters worse here the post office are not bothering with Sunday deliveries at all even with the backlog :mad:.
