2nd faulty sky+ hd box am i missing something?

hi all after a bit of advice i am curently on my 2nd hd box now:mad: and this one has now started playing up!
iv tried all the reset tips online but my box just keeps crashing its got to the point where im reseting it 20+ times a day!
for 8 years i had a old style pace sky box and didnt have one problem with it!
ever since iv got sky hd its been i nightmare!
it just seems the boxes last little over a year,
i will be ringing sky and geting a new box or canceling 2nd time round! just wondering if im missing something?
this is my 2nd amstrad box,
i think i remember somewere about thomson boxes being better,is this true can anyone shed any light?

i think you may be confused, everything i have read says that thompson was the worst boxes, i was one of the unlucky ones, who had a pace box swapped because of 2 missing cable ties, so did a bit of research before enginear turned up, and everything i saw said dont accept a thompson, anyway guess what he turned up with a thompson, and even had the cheek to tell me it was the best make:eek:, sure as eggs are eggs within a week it had given up the ghost:mad:, so i emailed jeremy durroch and had it replaced with a brand new samsung, as when i reported the box broken sky`s C/S told me i would get another thompson

No,Thompson are the worst for PSU failures & chances are your replacement HD box wasn't repaired when it was returned to Sky.(Sky fit reconditioned boxes on 99% of service calls)

yes after i had recieved the box i found out it was a reconditioned one this was 1st time round! this box i have now was new i saw the guy break the seal on the box and a few months down the line its also not working! im at a loss what to do with sky at the min getting fed up of paying a fortune and geting that fed up reseting im just sat with the tv off watching 40d online:eek: we recently changed our phone line and internet from sky to virgin because of the poor service from sky and the way im feeling now i can see the tv going the same way:mad:

the samsung one is ok, but it keeps freezing every now and then, but i think that is more to do with where it is placed, sometimes gets to hot, but unplug it and it comes back on, email addy was [EMAIL="jeremy.darroch@bskyb.com"]jeremy.darroch@bskyb.com[/EMAIL]

also you say the box was brand new because you saw the guy break the seal on the box, but did the box have a picture of the sky box on it, or was it plain, because if it was plain again the sky box would have been a reconditioned, as if this was recently, i do believe thompson have not made boxes for sky now for quite a while

Beat me to it...IIRC back to when I was with Sky,the was also a red sticker on the box packaging next to the barcodes ect to help ID reco boxes.

no it was a beand new one im sure was a black box with sky hd branding and the unbroken seal;)

will go and have a route in the garage later and try and find it cant remember and red sticker but will check thanks hun:D

Quickie question...where is your Sky box sited? It's important to keep the boxes ventilated on all sides or they overheat.Mine's on top of the TV cabinet & not inside it for this reason.

my box is on a long ikea tv unit there is noughting on top or even close to it on the unit so pleanty of ventilation:D
