well i am glad to see such positive saving out there i have re edited my post above with the true costs we are all really facing for me atm will be in the region of about £2000-£2500 on 2 items petrol and gas/electric. forgetting other costs like council tax, food costs, no pay rises at all so that becomes a pay cut in effect also longer hours and i could go on so prob in real term looking alot more than that while i appreciate postal costs to some of you who would use say huge amount of stamps it could effect such as ebay sellers but in the grand picture it really doesnt effect most of us sorry if my post upsets you a bit but i reckoning time you take it all into account the real cost to me personally will be at least in the region of £4000 maybe more while i tend to think is a little bit more unimportant than a 5P increase on a stamp at the end of the day we will all have to pay more and that is an end of it truly.

Do you order anything online? With the VAT rise and postage increases (because it's not just letter stamps that go up, it's all bands such as packets, airmails etc), it'll all go up.
We are all facing a rising cost of living as you say, but just becusae stamps doesn't affect you doesn't mean it isn't an important increase to others.
And remember it isn't a single 5p, it's 5p on every letter, more for the above bands.0 -
Yes but this is titled "Get those stamps in!"
I for one was glad to be told that the value is increasingI can't be bothered updating this anymore0 -

yes i do order online a alot of stuff point being i dont send it to them they send it to me and yes i have to pay the delivery or whatever that is, including the vat increase! the point im trying to make here which you seem to be missing we will all get stung whatever that cost is and to be honest you really wont get away from those costs so for me and i imagine alot of people stamps going up 5p really doesnt make much differeance to the majority of us you will just have to pay it.
for those that feel postage increase does effect them too could buy a couple of years worth but they wont as ties cash up. if your principle is correct could buy 3 years worth but people wont for locking money up again and question becomes how much do i actually use and in reality and the truth becomes most people dont know. so to me this is not a hugely great money saving tip as when you buy online for one example you will get charged at whatever the rate is even if is an ebay seller who has bought there stamps in advance.0 -
Well if it's not a great tip to you personally, so what. Don't mean to sound harsh but not all tips on MSE are applicable to everyone and we don't moan and pick at each OP if a tip doesn't apply to us.
And I know exactly how many stamps I have to use on a monthly basis, so I know this will affect me alot! Of course I use email where possible but can't use it for everything.0 -

I'm not sure why you are on this forum at all if all you are going to do is jeer at someone who posts a perfectly legitimate and useful piece of advice to save money. So it might not save you much money. Well, BIG NEWS - you are not the only one on this forum and some of us do appreciate the advice!
OP thank you for the reminder and also to whoever reminded us about Superdrug

ok im not trying to jeer that was not my point and never was i just see day after day people putting posts up like 2p of a £100 spend and if people wouldn't have spended a £100 at that store not really a saving is it really. the point i was trying to get at people put any old offer up these days including offers for the supermarket which to my mind should go in the food section and not really the grabbits as this section of the board of late has filled up with any old offer including ones posted and double posted again as people dont bother to check. I can see my view is not welcome i will leave this thread alone as not to be seen a troll which im not.
just thought some people in here could see where i was coming from with a slight different view of a much bigger picture i mean for example when redone my kitchen i put in new dishwasher, undercounter fridge and a tall freezer i did all online saved £300 compared to comet and where all a+ rated which would save even more money to me that is a significant saving but hey leave you to your stamps.
merry christmas

you mean its going to cost a whole 46p to sent a letter from the scottish highlands down to lands end?
Thats a bargain if you ask me, why not try to deliver it yourself for 46p instead of complaining

It may be a bargain BUT the point of the thread is to say that stamps are going up in cost
