I use gift bags as i am the worst person ever at wrapping. Though better than my ex who just used to give me presents in the bag he bought them from!

I love wrapping gifts :) the only ones I don't like are those bubble-packed things that are fatter at one end than the other, they're a beggar to wrap neatly

I did the brown paper & hairy string thing last year & everyone loved their rustic parcels :D

& it cost me next to nothing, over the year I saved all the brown packing paper that Amazon use in their boxes, folded it neatly concertina-style, put it under some heavy books & by December it was all nice & flat

    very money-saving & environmentally friendly ;)
  • It's not the cutting thats the problem its getting the paper to stick on the item without it sliding that drives me mad! Also I can't cut in straight lines either lol. So my wrapping is funky :D

Don't feel like wrapping this year not in the christmas mood tonight

I quite enjoy wrapping, I like to use brown paper, especially for men, I've wrapped a book for my dad this year in brown paper, string tied like a parcel, with the message i'd normally write on a tag written directly onto the left hand top corner of the "parcel" just like I would write an address, I even put LUV CNJ (our initials are c and j..) as the postcode! I had some lovely stick on thick card scrapbooking bits from poundland, including one which was squarish so used that as the stamp, I just hope he likes it,lol!

I use reuasble things for wrapping eg tea towels, face flannels etc. For large items I use fleecey blankets from Asda (2 for £5) - work out cheaper than gift bags and totally recyclable. Use small bars of chocolate covered in plain paper as gift tags and tie with cheap thin ribbon!

these look great, i may have to do something like this next year!
  • What wonderful ideas and great photos too, thank you. I especially love the fleecy blanket to wrap large items, along with the chocolate gift tags. I'll certainly use those in the future. I have some gold crochet thread that I use for stringing up decorations that will probably do instead of thin ribbon. Crafts are enormously popular and the one shop that has a good range (Boyes) seems to sell out quite quickly.

No, i buy cheap wrapping paper and wrap things up, there are only so many jute bags and tea towels that someone can take.!! i'm only good at wrapping oblong things, but i don't mind the cost of the paper, its only once a year.
