So where are we now that D-Day is here. How are you all doing??
For myself I cheerfully admit I haven't achieved all my goals - however I am pleased with what success I've had so far.
Being a "the glass is half full" kind of gal I am going to concentrate on the positives. So ....
I've lost 11lbs, lost some inches around the midriff and waist, my hair, skin and nails are much improved, I've smartened myself up a bit and now scrub up quite nicely. Ok not ready for the cover of Vogue yet, but no longer a bedraggled, unkempt, "bag lady".
I feel fitter, healthier, more energetic, sleep better, fewer stomach problems fewer aches and pains - yes there are still problems with my back and neck and especially my elbows but that is probably more to the demands of caring for OH.
More to the point, and yes I know this sounds all New Age Hippy, but I really do I feel better mentally and emotionally. I still have the odd "low" day but in general I'm much better equipped to deal with problems, strains and stresses.
I firmly believe that this is due to my new regime of healthy eating, exercise, some pampering and a bit of TLC - as Mrs W puts it - of making feeling good a priority.
I've come to the conclusion it's not selfish or self indulgence to take better care of our health and well-being. We need to be strong, fit and healthy to cope with the stresses and strains of modern life.
And it's not broken the bank ...............0 -
How much has it cost??
Surprising little - I reckon somewhere between around the £100 mark, which taken over 6 months is pretty good.
Here's what I've spent -
Basic summer wardrobe from Sainsbury's - £40
New Make Up & toiletries etc - about £30
Essential Oils - £10
Clothes from charity shops - about £40
Vitamins etc about £20
Total £140
LESS
2 X £20 saved by no longer colouring my hair
Most beauty treatments have been done with homemade recipes using ingredients from the kitchen.
Exercise has been virtually free - no gym fees - just using some some equipment I already had, bike, son's multi-gym, Swiss ball, hand weights, yoga mat, a couple of DVD's (free with newspapers). Memo to self - start walking.
I've not counted private physio sessions or chiropody - I regard them as medical expenses. I would simply seize up without them.:rotfl:
I've also not added the weight watcher fees - £19-95 per month.
So money wise - not much at all.
The real cost has been motivation, will-power, determintation and sheer bl**dy mindedness - refusing to be beaten.
There have been days when I've failed miserably, attacks of the munchies, unable to face exercising and hardly being bothered with my appearance. However, thanks to this thread and all your kindness, support and encouragement I've been able to draw a line and start again, quickly getting back on track.
So a big thanks to everyone.
OK - one more post.0 -
