Love the idea of the wedding festival. A great chance to wear something pretty, floaty, vaguely medieval perhaps, or something along the lines of a Midsummer Night's Dream - think Titania, Queen of the Faeries.

Would definitely go for a velvet cloak, could be chilly. Charity shop curtains could be adapted. Something vaguely druid/celtic.

If your singing voice isn't up to scratch (mine is awful - although I can do a mean Kate Bush impersonation:rotfl:) how about a lovely poem, Shakespeare does great love poems and odes.

Sounds like great fun - hope the weather is kind.

Just found out my favourite Shakespeare sonnet - 116

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
    Which alters when alteration finds
Or bends with the remover to remove.
O no, it is an ever fixed mark etc .....

I love this - so much more romantic than the traditional wedding vows - "for richer for poorer, in sickness & health" etc. And it says so much more about constancy and unending love. (just my opinion of course).:rotfl:

But then again, I'm just an old hippie at heart - OH and I "married" each other in the ruins of Glastonbury Abbey. We had a later civil service for the sake of legality but as far as we are concerned the one that counted was Glastonbury.;)

We often used to go back there - always in the Autumn when the trees were wearing their "golden raiments" - to renew our vows - just the two of us. When the boys came along we still went, they would be running about, having fun and OH and I would just have a silent moment together. Soppy romantics that we were (are).

    Good Morning!

LL your ceremony at glastonbury sounds beautiful! I often wish we could have done something like that- having a large family has it's drawbacks :) we did try but the clamour of outrage and guilt trips from both sides of the family made us back down eventually...ah well it was still a lovely day...or days as we had a second hindu ceremony in Mauritius after.

I think you are right about the dress, I've found this one which I think wil work quite well:

    http://www.wallis.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33058&storeId=12557&productId=2442644&langId=-1&sort_field=Relevance&categoryId=209222&parent_categoryId=209166&pageSize=20&refinements=category~[209230|209222]&noOfRefinements=1

and your idea of a cape is really good, will have to have a hunt round the charity shops I think.

As far as the singing goes, it's not so much being up to scratch I'm worried about- I'm out of practice but a few days of doing exercises will get things sorted- muscle memory is great :D,at least I think that's what does it- one advantage of having won a scholarship and had some proper vocal training, is that as long as I make sure I do my exercises properly it sort of just snaps back into place... more having the time to sort out some appropriate songs/covers practice them, ah I'll get there....DH suggesting covering Queen's "I want to break free" :D whilst I know the bride will find it funny....not so sure about how the groom will take it so maybe not!

I love the idea of a poem- and that is one of my favourite sonnets so I will keep that as a back up idea thanks!

for ours a dear friend read this:
    Captain Corelli's Mandolin
    Louis de Bernieres
    Love is a temporary madness,
it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides.
And when it subsides you have to make a decision.
You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together
that it is inconceivable that you should ever part.
Because this is what love is.
    Love is not breathlessness,
    it is not excitement,
it is not the promulgation of eternal passion.
That is just being "in love" which any fool can do.
Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away,
and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.
Those that truly love, have roots that grow towards each other underground,
and when all the pretty blossom have fallen from their branches,
they find that they are one tree and not two.

he's was so good and read it with a real intensity and had everyone wiping a tear ....nice memories :)

hmm off to ponder some song ideas...

    Have a lovely day everyone!

    Hello ladies and lurkers

A beautiful sunny day here so made the most of it - lots of gardening, pruning overgrown bushes, planted some spring onions. Had a healthy salad lunch al fresco. Lovely.

Also did a mega shop at Sainsburys - freezers, cupboards etc all nicely stocked up again. Still trying to really streeeeetch the housekeeping budget - getting there I think.

Love the dress Mrs W - purple velvet cloak would look stunning with it, although black would be good too. Purple velvet curtains might be a bit tricky to find in the CS shops - I often see bland washed out beigey/pinky velvet ones. I think they would dye quite easily.

I love dyeing clothes and fabrics and playing around. I found some recipes to make natural/vegetable dyes. Going to have a go one of these days - they tend to come out in softer gentler shades than synthetic dyes.

We have a fabulous Dunhelm store here - sale on at the moment:) Technically I don't need anything but I will pop in anyway - might be some good bargains. They often have velvet curtains on sale and a good choice of fabrics too. I love plain white bedlinen so usually stock up when they are on sale. My neighbour works there and her home is beautiful - full of gorgeous bits and pieces from the shop. Good job I don't work there - I wouldn't have any wages to bring home.:rotfl:

Just a few stretches today to ease me back into doing some exercise.
Beauty treatments - defuzzing, peppermint oil foot massage. Back on the oil cleanse and then facial massage with my rose oil serum. Skin feels nice and soft now.

Love that poem from Captain Corelli's Mandolin Mrs W. Must confess I've not read the book, I enjoyed the story - saw the film version but admit thought Nicholas Cage was awful (sorry just my opinion).:rotfl:

Off to bed - didn't sleep very well last night - hopefully will do better tonight.

    G'night all x

    Hello Everyone

Had a really busy day today but not really achieved much. Did manage to plant some more vegetables - beans, salads, beetroot and some flowers for good measure.

Other than that - one of those days when I just seemed to go round in circles.

Never mind - my LWD here tomorrow so I will get up early to tidy round so she can have a good go and get everywhere ship shape again.

Going to have a morning off tomorrow and have a mooch round the diy sheds, charity and second hand furniture shops - see if there are any bargains out there.;)

    G'night all x

    Morning all!

been busy couple of days trying to get organised for the big party on Saturday, we have approx 30 people coming so plenty to do- also have my work do on earlier in the day but will just pop in for an hour or so- at least show willing lol!

been so tired these last few days, foggy headed and just "off" I'm sure there is something going around- DH has been like it and a couple of ppl at work too, just hope I can shake it off soon.

Got a bit of sun yesterday- so I attacked the large bush by the patio- it was slowly taking over and blocking out the light into the living room amazing how much nicer it looks now with it all trimmed back and the lawn cut...

good thing too, as it's pretty darn miserable here today, got soaked coming in- problem with the elec gates at work and my buzzer didn't work had to go round the back and try and unlock the padlock on the back gate- failed got soaked and my feet got wet :( hate wet feet...shoes are drying out now- thank goodness not many people come up to our floor lol!

Failing too on the pampering front this week- will try and have a long hot bath with some oils tonight once I've dealt with some of the prep, my little brother and DH's best friend are coming up on the Friday so will be around to help on Sat morning thankfully...

and next week is the hen do- I'm really hoping that my ankle is healed up properly by then- in a fit of inspiration (or should that be drink-spiration?) we decided that we should theme the hen do around our favourite shoes- wait there is a point to this- we both LOVE Iron Fist shoes, they are so different and fun and we were looking at some when shopping and decided that as I have the wolf ones:

and she has ones which are a bit like the ruby slippers with a black & white striped heel we could do a tim burton/fairy tale theme silly I know but it sounded like fun...just hope I can actually wear them by next week.....

right am off to research some punch recipes for Saturday
    have a great day ladies!

    Hello Everyone

Sorry to hear you are feeling a bit tired and off it Mrs W. I think you're right there must be a lurgy going round again. I too feel shattered, light headed and my neck glands are sore and tender - usually a clear sign for me that I am below par.

Anyway went to WW - lost another 0.5 lbs - slow but sure.:)

Had a mooch round the charity shops, finally found a pair of matching chandeliers for my lounge/dining room. £5 the pair, absolute bargain. Will shabby chic them, just need to get some nice glass beads etc. Will try "tinterweb" see what comes up. Also picked up an unusual octagon shaped mirror to prettify for £3 and a lamp base for the princely sum of 10p. A good mornings work.

Not much happening here - going to try and do a bit of exercise in a minute. Really don't feel like it but needs must.:o

    Hope all is well.

    Bye for now x
