Dental Work Abroad
Comments

You must realise there are plenty of places one can go for dentistry abroad.
Turkey? Why would it be one of the worst places one can go to? I'm sure in any place you visit you're bound to find good places as well as bad places.. It's just a matter of being well informed and doing your own diligence before traveling...0 -
Anyone had implants in Costa Rica? Can you name a specific place that has good/safe work? Are the prices as good as Bangkok?
I looked and a plane flight from Atlanta Ga, to Bangkok os $1800
Costa Rica $1000 of course if it would be to dangerous at Costa I would not go.0 -

Unless you are staying there for a least six months or at least plan a return visit six months later, don't bother. Plus you should allow yourself at least three weeks in country for the dentist to check the implant after insertion.
Perhaps you should forget about it.0 -
Also, you need to return three to six months later to continue the treatment, so one needs to have the time.
And the money!
Am I missing something here?
I can see the sense in getting minor dental work carried out abroad - which is fine as long as you were going there anyway, however, if dedicated trips involving prolonged stays and repeat trips are required (particularly to Asia), the additional cost of air fares, accommodation and other requirements will negate any savings made.
Not to mention the repercussions if the work is sub standard.0 -
Those contributing to the thread may be interested in our study currently underway - do get in touch. Medical travel raises a host of issues.
HAVE YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW PAID FOR MEDICAL TREATMENT OVERSEAS?
If so, a national study would like to hear from you about your experiences.
The study is investigating the experience of UK patients who have travelled abroad for medical treatment.
Everything you can pass on to the research team about your experience will help others who may choose the same course, whether it was for weight loss or bariatric surgery, dental services, cosmetic surgery, hip or joint replacements, sports injury treatment, ophthalmic surgery, fertility treatment or anything else.
Your anonymity and confidentiality will be assured at all times.
This is an important piece of research which will be of real value in
assessing future treatment of UK patients, and you can help.
Dr Daniel Horsfall at the University of York is project manager for the
study. Please email him direct at:
