Oh dear, is that embarrassing - I always re-use padded envelopes - and ordinary ones - I thought it was just good practice! Also remake christmas and birthday cards and tags out of old ones.
One thing I do keep quietish about (apart from announcing it on public forums!) is that I use recycled teaas a compost activator. Not really embarrassed about it but I know it's a step too far for some, probably including my children and OH who eat the vegetables, but they haven't caught me sidling out of the bathroom with my jug yet.

Just a question on the whole prepaid envelope thing...
Can you just write a new address on it and send it off or do you need to put on a new stamp?Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
I think since we are all money saving minded these things don't seem embarrasing, just common sense. I would rather people passed on presents that I'd given them than throw them out or have them gathering dust somewhere! My husband is involved with a local charity and is always asking for raffle prize donations, so guess where our unwanted gifts go to?:D (I have noticed that sometimes prizes reappear in the next raffle so I'm not the only one to do this!) As long as they've raised funds I don't think that it matters.:)The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

The posts are about using the envelopes rather than the postage. You can't use a prepaid envelope's postage to send it anywhere other than the original address.
You can cross the address off & stick a stamp on it though.0 -
i always do that, they are in permanent rotation!0

i always recycle padded envelopes.i have never bought any envelopes or packaging for e bay.i turn plastic delivery bags inside out so no name is visible.i keep bubble wrap and have used brown paper carrier bags(ie primark) with the handles cut off and split down the side.when flat these paper bags are quite large.
keep your eye out for stamps that have come through the post without postmarks on them they can be re glued.if you cant peel them off cut round them.i have had lots of these over xmas.i dont think the po has time....one more thing use pre paid envelopes with a sticky label over the address.they have already been paid.just dont rely on them for anything too inportant.0 -

Hi all,
I've been known to decant shop own products into more expensive bottles - such as liquid soap / showergels, as members of my family refuse to use anything that isn't 'named', whereas I don't mind - what they don't know won't hurt them!
Also, I quite like to go clothes shopping - trying on outfits (but not buying) and then see if I can get the exact same item / size off ebay for a fraction of the price.
I used to recycle gift bags but nowadays my friends and I tend to have get-togethers rather than buy gifts as after almost 30 years of knowing each other, most gift ideas have been exhausted. (Still works out cheaper than presents - especially for the driver).
Oh, and today we had a raffle at work and I won a bottle of whisky - don't like this and have no-one to give it to, so I swapped it for 3 bottles of wine! (That's 2 presents sorted and one bottle for me!).
Liking this thread......keep the 'embarrasing' tips coming!!:)A vision without a plan is just a dream.0
