Will BT Infinity speedup all standard broadband?

The cabinets along my road are in the process of being upgraded - there are hulking great new green ones being installed either replacing or being placed next to the old ones.
That useful link also says March 2011 for me, but I'm hoping they'll become live earlier as it's about time speeds increased and I will gladly pay for it (been on 14mbit for 6 years now - can't get the full 16 due to being 1km from exchange)0 -
BT are doing a half-ar5ed service roll-out. Firts, they are only bringing Infinity to 4 locations (Colchester being one), second, the technology is capable of 100m/b each way, but BT are limiting it to 40M/b downstream + 1.5m/b up.
Apparently this so they don't upset the llu providers who are only on ADSL2 kit.Never Knowingly Understood.

It that right?? I get:
Our test also indicates that your line currently supports a WBC Fibre To The Premises technology with an estimiated Broadband downstream line speed of upto 100Mbps and upstream line speed of upto 30Mbps.
And I have ordered this service last week...These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!
I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!0 -

no, he's not right. FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet - upto 40Mbps) is being rolled out countrywide to hundreds of exchanges. Not all cabinets are currently slated but a large majority are.
Currently, FTTP (Fibre to the Premises - upto 100Mbps) is still in trial and is only at two locations - Bradwell Abbey in Milton Keynes and Highams Park in North London.Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former. - Albert Einstein0
