Noisy Neighbours

Oh where to start!

Had started to write a long rant but decided to keep it short and simple.

Neighbours next door. 2 dogs. One a yappy duster the other a big barky "will eat you" dog.

Got dog noise sorted, how do we get their fighting noise sorted??? We are detached from them by the way so noise coming through windows not walls.

It seems to be a weekly occurrence now but tonight's just took the biscuit! My partner has a chest infection and I have scarlet fever (don't ask) I kept him up all last night with my running a marathon in my sleep while sounding like a fog horn apparently so we both went to bed knackered tonight. He has an important meeting in the morning.

So just into bed, OH stoned on Night Nurse, me on my usual prescription drugs. OH now snoring, yappy dog yapping as its usually inside at night. I fall asleep. For all of 2 mins. Yappy duster gets louder, so thats me up. Decide its better for OH to get a good nights sleep and I can go into spare room or settee.

Discover yappy duster dog is still out because WW3 is taking place in next doors kitchen, dear God the yelling, screaming and shouting is mad.
Doors banging, he leaves in car, her being a nutter shes shouting at the front door.

Peace at least. Nope. Yelling starts again via phone (wish they would close their kitchen and utility windows), then sobbing. 2 hours later we have silence. Thank God!

This is apparently a regular thing for them, we moved 5 months ago but knew some neighbours previous but its getting louder and louder lol

Everyone has a row and a screaming match to clear the air but !!!!!! our neighbours would never hear us, esp like that.
Its not as if we live in a horrible chavy place, its a wee small village, very small, private posh development with only 16 houses.

Why don't people have some consideration for others, they know others can hear them shouting. Its very unfair and esp when its happening during the day and I'm out in the garden, I go in as I feel like I'm snooping and uncomfortable.
I would just like them to shut up, walk the big dog as the poor thing must be stare crazy, have a fight via email and close their !!!!!!! windows!

Sorry for rant, I'm contaminated for another 2 days so have no one else to talk to as our house has a big red X painted on front door :rotfl:

Hope everyone else is well and looking forward to Santa x

We all need a good rant. I can feel your pain, I had a similar problem in the past, there's nothing worse than inconsiderate neighbours.
  • Double glazing or, if you can afford it, triple glazing. Works wonders for soundproofing and improves the heat insulation something wonderful.

Get many quotes before you choose one, surprising how the latter reps drop their prices when you tell them what the last one quoted. Try both national and local fitters.

If you are redecorating, you used to be able to buy 3mm thick polyfoam sheet stuff as a liner for wallpaper, that helped us deaden noises through wall (don't ask...)
I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.

Great idea's, although it might be cheaper to hire a hitman ;)
  • Its a practically new house with triple glazing, one of our windows faces one of theirs.

I quite like the hitman idea lol
  • I AM NOT A DOUBLE GLAZING SALES REP SO DO NOT ASK....

the foamy wallpaper liner also helped and kept the room warmer

anyone want to buy a roll?

    ;)

I know the feeling, soon after we first moved in the couple in the flat above had a proper mental argument pretty late at night - stamping thier feet, yelling, slamming doors - its only a converted house so it must have been damn obvious we could hear the whole thing - thankfully it ended when one of them left. It happened again a few weeks ago but someone left pretty quickly so finally had peace.
They are the same age as me and my OH, they've only been married a few months :/ - I don't think we've ever had a argument like that (yes we argue now an again but not screaming and throwing stuff!)

  • fully sympathise, we have terrible neighbours. They have been there for three years ,but it feels like three decades. They are noisy, slam doors, put the washing machine on in the middle of the night (we live in a terrace so noise carries) and event sit naked in the bakc garden whilst pleasuring himself. Last year he decorated the back room in the nude with nor covering on the window. It was bad enough for us but the other neighbours little girl was v traumatised.
Thankfully they have gone away for Christmas and I hope that they decide to stay 12000 miles away.

Hope your situation turns out better than our

Can sympathise, lived with hell neighbours for over 12 years, i mean music so loud i could not hear my own TV, shouting and stamping and banging daily, for hours on end, could start hammering his walls at any time even 3 am, finally i managed to move, now neighbours are quiet, nice and i have my peace i longed for.

I tried for 12 yars to figure my neighbours logic out and failed, i truly think he is just one of them people who does not give a hoot about other people, only himself.

Do people not know you can complain to environmental health, landlord, etc etc? It does work, you don't have to put up with it! Keeping a diary as evidence is a good starting point. Your neighbours may guess at you being the one who complained but there will be no proof so just deny it.

In council accomodation, it is extremely hard to have anyone evicted, they do not care.
