Mine's also survived being dropped down the stairs, falling onto the laminate floor at the gym several times and assorted other abuse. Just signed up to upgrade to a Blackberry but I'll miss my lil Nokia - it's done me corkingly well.

I drove over mine in the car (didn't notice it drop out of my pocket when putting daughter in the car seat!) and it survived.

My ideal phone would probably be an E63 with a higher res screen running Android. It's a shame that there isn't an Android phone with a serious keyboard - I've tried some of the sliders and they feel like toys after the E63.
Funnily I turned down the Wildfire in favour of the Blackberry just today. I'm not a touchscreen fan.
I had a touchscreen Blackberry (Storm 2) which was arguably the worst of both worlds :(

Which one is that? From what I've seen the keyboard on the newer 9780 is nowhere near as robust as the original Bold 9700
  • The HTC Wildfire is a budget handset, so you have to expect budget quality. As you have only had the phone a couple of months it might be worth sticking with it for a month more to see if you can get used to the touchscreen. It does take a while when you are used to it, you aren't the first and won't be the last to struggle.

An alternative to Swype is swiftkey, think enhanced predictive text and it learns how you write so I only have to enter the first letter and then click one of the three suggested words, it is really quite good.

If you can't get used to it, sell the phone and buy something different - it really depends on what you want to use the phone for so I'm not going to recommend a handset. But if you don't like it just change the phone.

It was the bold I wanted but I would be happy with any one as long it has buttons and isnt the pearl.

Yes dd keeps saying to me hows your budget phone mum:othis whole experience has taught me a lesson of cheapest is not always best I think the main problem is the touchscreen, its actually driving me insane:eek: My main uses for a phone are texting, taking pictures and putting them online and internet use, I'm an idiot because these are the things that I struggle with most on the wildfire:( oh and needless to say it must have buttons, I'll check out swiftkey:)
Thank you for this site Martin
The time for change has come
    Good luck for the future
