You can prebook tickets for a set time for Anne Franks house so you don't have to queue.

I nearly forgot, On the main drag opposite the Central station go and have a look in the Sex Museum, its blumming hilarious in places specially if there are a few of you. Only about 4/5 euros.

Eating Dutch food, its very basic.

Dont under any circumstances go for an English breakfast,
they just dont know how to do them.

Have a good time, Amsterdam is blo ody brilliant.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Anne Franks house is miserable and depressing especially in the light of we all know what happened to her.
    Give it a wide berth.

Canal boat trip, you will see more of Amsterdam this way.
    The public transport is amazing.

The baguettes in Amsterdam and the cakes (0000hh the cakes) are amazing.

Sounds lovely :o Its making me hungry thinking about it. I really need to visit Amsterdam one day :T I'm getting there in my exploring, but not managed there yet.

I know of someone who went to the sex museum, there photos where classic :rotfl: I think a workmate would be in his element there, but that's not really for MSE.

At 4/5 euros its pretty much MSE, all the other tourist attractions
are really expensive, at least twice the SM (no pun intended) lol.

By the way, pay as you get on the canal boat, dont get your tickets from the shop, they are bourt 2 euros more doing it this way. robbing sods.

So true. They are fans of stodgy food mostly. Although they do have fabulous treats, such as StroopWaffel (literally syrup waffle) and Apple Pies. YUM!

Dont under any circumstances go for an English breakfast,
they just dont know how to do them.

They do try, but they don't have the right ingredients. ie, sausages like ours. Molly Malone's does an excellent version though, with Irish sausages. It's an Irish Bar on the edge of the red light district. Not cheap, but very tasty.

Have a good time, Amsterdam is blo ody brilliant.

    Anne Frank's...I still haven't been.

OH says the Heineken tour is good. And I enjoyed the Madame Tussauds tour (but I'd never been to one before either).

Always book in advance. It saves time queueing and saves money too usually.

Canal tours are great, and there is a good one for €8.50 (or maybe just €8 I forget) if you'd like me to point it out on a map?

It really depends what you want to see/do, especially as you are limited on time. Can recommend some good places to eat. These come from colleagues who live in Amsterdam.

Another vote for both the Sex Museum and Anne Frank' House - I loved it.

Canal boat tour was fab, and I'd probably hire a bike to have a nosey around the city!!

    xDx
