Even though a scam hasn't materialised quite how the scammer intended, it doesn't negate the fact the 'crime' took place.

If you try to rob a bank but the bank clerk recognises you, so you pull up your balaclava and say 'April Fool', do you think the crime never occurred?

    No 'crime' has occured!

You don't even know that one has been attempted, you're just guessing!

OP wanted some help and support.

Group of people jumping to conculsions isn't helpful to anyone.

Not much of a scam is it,-sell 30 items, to build up feedback then pull a fast one on one or two people. Get caught out. Then what? Hardly Brinks Mat is it?

However much you try and butter up a SCAM, no matter how small a scam is, it still remains a SCAM. you can defend the SCAMMER as much as you like, it does not change one Iota of the intention to SCAM.

OP only needs to leave a nice negative feedback, with a message of exactly what this seller tried to do whether or not they got away with it. ;)

And you are guessing there isn't a scam.

Sending something of low value via recorded delivery to obtain a proof of delivery for Paypal is the oldest SCAM in the book.

The fact remains, the seller (or brother!) sent ONE piece of lego via RD. The cost of postage was probably significantly higher than the value of the one piece.

No one will know for sure the intention of the seller, but it's not hard to look at the facts as we have been given them.

Seller hasn't actually been scammed though, have they?

If they had then of course they should leave bad feedback, and report to ebay.

All OP needs to do is state the facts, and it will be on record for all to see.

If there are any further problems, there will be a track record.

Otherwise you are just condeming someone who could be entirely innocent (badly organised/misguided or anything else you want call them), but not actually guilty of trying to steal from someone, as you suggest.

I simply don't believe in jumping to conculsions.

To falsely accuse someone of something is a really nasty thing to do.

You don't happen to trade in lego, do you?;)
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

Yes, fortunately OP did not listen to your advice of "wait n see", can you quote this? Never been said!

ensuring OP pushed ahead before the deadline. As a direct result of NOT following your advice, the OP (not the seller) has not been scammed. My advice was to communicate, Op had already opened a dispute. You have no idea if they were been scammed, or the real reasons behind what went on.

Buyer can open snad to get refund.

There are only so many times I can say keep an open mind!

This is not at all helpful to the buyer.

Your right, it's the the great 2010 lego scam. Seller should be shot at dawn!:rotfl:
  • Think about the next person who may be tempted to deal with this seller. I would leave neg feedback stating that item was not as advertised and was only resolved following several complaints to seller.

I think these people telling you to make a big fuss are just wind up merchants, you should ignore them, keep a cool head and pragmatic attitude, and it will all sort itself out.

At last something we can agree on. ;)

Fact is, the matter has now been resolved, the SCAMMER failed and the OP got a refund, jumping up and down trying to justify yourself (so embarrassingly) is not really going to change the situation but just make you look even more desperate.

All the OP needs to do now, is leave a negative feedback, with a description of exactly what occurred.

Nuff said to you about it, anything else you wish to add (however inane), need not be discussed with me, I am not prepared to feed you anymore ;)

Never let facts get in the way of your arguement do you? Don't have a go at me for pointing out that you are unhelpfully guessing! I'm sorry you find concept of knowing the facts before making judgements to so difficult to comprehend.

Fortunatly I don't have the time (or inclination) to rack up 7000 odd posts inflicting my opinions on others.

OP got their money back, no need for getting upset, as I said originally.

Feel free to have the last word if it makes you feel better.

The OP does not seem to need anymore 'help'.

I have no further comments to add.

Ps I know a good cure for ulcers ;)
