its for our son who is 14 and i'd like to say its for homework etc but i think its more than likely to be for facebook etc, he is devoted to his I pod touch, but as hard as i try i really can't afford the high price of them.
Yeah, the Advent Vega cannot out of the box access the android market to get games and applications. It doesnt have a 3g option either.
Like I say, If Currys put my Vega for sale it would sell like hotcakes- I downloaded the software and files to add all the market and stuff and even got a performance pack which has improved speed and response. If you didnt do this you would be disappointed and like others have stated a lot of poor Android tablets out there.0 -
The Archos 101 and 70 and many other Android 2.0 and up tablets can access the Android Market with tweaking, as I understand it.There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

Android tablets access Market through home Wifi, because mine does, there is no need for 3G. However it did not access Market straight from the box, I had to find instructions on internet.
I also read about something called Mifi which is a pocket Wifi that you can carry with you.
One can get used to resisitive screen, but I suppose capacitive is better indeed.
If you want to buy a tablet you should spend some time researching this subject and then to find reviews and list of issues posted by people who bought the particular model which you consider, to know what you expect.
The lower priced (under £200) tablets from Shenzen China are rather like prototypes than finished consumer products, therefore they are for people who like to play with computers, because they do not fully work straight from box.0 -
Archos 70 and 101 both have capacitive screens, and whilst it takes a bit of tweaking to get the best out of them, I would say that they are probably your best bet (although stock, like the Vega, is pretty low at the moment)
I managed to get myself a 70 yesterday, but apart from opening it to check it worked, I've not had much of a chance to play with it yet; I can say it feels pretty good in the hand the screen is very responsive...should be even better when I update to 2.2.0 -

I would want it to have at least the same spec or more as my own phone...
Android 2.2
1 GHz
RAM: 768 MB
As soon as tablets hit that, they'll be useful. Don't bother until then0 -

Advent Vega does first two but 512MB on the last one. Still good enough IMHO.0 -
I dunno, i usually see my phone with only 250mb of ram left; frankly i think they really need 1gb of ram to cut down the battery usage and run smoother0
