Hello Chums ,just had a nice visit from my sis-in-law and a pleasant lunch of leek and tattie soup and some french bread, followed by the obligatory Christmas mince pie very festive.
My dear nephew sent me the youtube link of his little boy who sings in the choir,he is the lad you can see by the mike looking very serious whilst reading the music

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtA0ih6pwyU

I love this carol as it always reminds me of my late Mum sitting at her piano playing and singing to us children back in the 1940s .She sang before her marriage with the Glasgow Orpheus Choir and had a lovely contralto voice.
I have my DGS's nativity play tonight so I am a little gad-about this week.Very cold and raining slightly at the moment still better than the snow .I hope you are all wrapped up warmly if you have to go out
Take care everyone its almost Christmas and we don't want any accidents.
    Cheers JackieO xx

    Afternoon all,

Sorry to hear that so many are poorly, rest as much as you possibly can. I popped into work today (school) to let them know about my op, there are so many staff and children ill at the moment, lots of really nasty bugs around.

I managed to get a bit of shopping done today. Picked up some bits for the freezer to make life a bit easier for DH when he has to take over all household duties. Also treated myself to some new pyjamas and a bed jacket, nurse told me I'll need to wear loose fitting clothes for a while, I've got a couple of pairs of yoga-type trousers so they will do.

We are going out for a meal toight DH works do, its local, don't think we'll be too late my nephew is babysitting and he has work tomorrow.

Better sign off, there is a hastily organised concert at school at 3pm my sons class have been learning to play the ukelele and are going to show there skills to the rest of the school. I have bought him and DH one each for Christmas, can't wait to see his face when he opens it.

    Take care everyone

  • Afternoon All,

Boys went back to school this morning, and after I walked Coco I went and did some Christmas shopping ALL BY MYSELF!! One panic attack in the can but I got it under control very quickly. Back is aching but I am chuffed to bits, got DH's DSIS, 2 x DNieces and somebits for the boys, then went to Mr S and did a food shop. I spent £25 on cheese :o I love having cheeses at Christmas :D Posted my lasy coupld of wee things that needed to go, and bought a piece of tinsel I was missing for the tree, treated myself to lunch inMr S' cafe - it was rubbish but the first time I have eaten alone outside since June so the experience was worth it. I am waiting for four parcels to arrive. One is from Debenhams and is DS2's party clothes for tomorrow :( I have been waiting ten days for it, but DHL haven't updated their tracking thing since yesterday lunchtime.

Hope everyone stays safe, Lou and Alipops take good care of yourselves. Sorry to hear your BIL isn't getting the stent yet Kathy, that's a real shame. Hester fingers crossed for DD's scan.

Hugs spoons and hi5's all round.

    Afternoon :),

RedRuby - same here- I discovered after our power cut yesterday that we had no upstairs heating or hot water,as the central heating clock had died.It kept flicking on and off before the power cut off completely, making a noise.Luckily I can put the woodburner on,and we have a back up immersion heater, but we're not lingering in the bathroom-far too chilly( reminded me of being a kid again :D).Had a quick look online, theyre about £100
    Mioliere-(((hugs)))
    HH-hope DD is ok.
Loulou- sounds nasty-hope you feel better soon.

Just been shopping again.Frustrating that when DH was at home for 2 weeks and could have helped with it all,and given me lifts,he hadnt been paid so we couldnt do Christmas shopping.Ah well,at least we're ok now.

Something mince based for tea,its already cooked,so may just turn it into chilli, nice and warming.

Right ,off to wrap more stuff.Take care all xxx

PS. Well done Jackie, bet you feel very pleased with yourself, onward and upward.

    Afternoon all,

Hugs and good wishes to all poorly people...hope all recovered by next week.

HH....hope that DDs scan is ok.

Tired mum....can sympathise....when we were in financial trouble at any time over last 40 years OH was awol...lovely to be able to delegate responsibility....things will get better though, you can do it!

Jackieg....the joy of shopping alone....since we both retired I never get out on my own and its a proper PITA....only advantage is that he sometimes picks up the tab so I console myself with that.

Did a big shop this morning, will need very little next week and DD3 is going to do that so am dead chuffed. Boots did well out of me too, think that I am more or less finished....need to wrap so that I can know where I am....tomorrow or Friday I think.

Just realised that it is too late to cook the bacon I meant to do for dinner, so had better hit the freezer...need to sort it anyway...

Getting colder here and we have a kind of drizzle which is allegedly going to turn to snow to-morrow....joy!!

Take care all and stay safe and warm

DD had her scan, the news doesn't seem to be too bad, I can't remember what they think is wrong, something to do with the kidneys, but it's supposed to only happen to boy babies & she is having a girl, go figure. Anyway, baby definitely has one working kidney, DD is back for a scan on 4th Jan to check again. DD is very upbeat as one working kidney is better than none.
I walked to work & back today as my car is having problems, still I'm so relieved about the baby I don't care about the car, lol.
    Have a good evening everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    afternoon all!

managed to get a lot done.

Thanks to help from you lovely people I've done DH a cv. Fingers crossed he gets something soon.
Am a bit fed up :(- had both my Mum and my Sister crying on me this week - they live together and have had a major falling out which includes my sisters partner. I'm stuck in the middle sympathising with both if them - no fun at all as I can see both points of view.

I've just had DS1 on the phone - he's breaking up with his partner again. His life is a big mess, emotionally and financially. He's coming home(again) to try and sort himself out. I hope he stops a bit this time as we both worry about him such a lot.

Back to OS. I've done a freezer inventory this afternoon, looks like loads so also starting my shopping list.

:j well done Jackieg!!! I love cheeses too. I am having to stop myself from eating my Christmas ones! :rotfl:

Well I had a humbling morning, took the work kids to the local disabled school. The were alldressed up as Santa, snwomen, elves etc. We went into every classroom and saw all the kids there. The schoolkids range from 3 to 18, some have very profound disabilities. The schoolkids were in awe of Santa :rotfl:. I was so proud of my work kids :D they had voiced their worries beforehand as most of them had never really had any interaction with disabled people before. But they were all so good and well-behaved :A.

Tonight I am going to write my Christmas cards and start wrapping presents. I did want to spend a day doing it whilst watching xmas movies but I don't have a spare day between now and Xmas Eve so need to get them done asap!

No OS I'm afraid. I may make dinner, or I may order a takeaway :o.

    Have a good evening all
