I just got that mail too. I didn't think we'd get the chairs but wanted to see what we WOULD get. I wonder if the ones that put in early orders get them...maybe we were just unlucky because they ran out of stock.
I wanted to reply and tell them they were fibbing...they are available, just they don't want to admit it being a massive mistake.Maybe that's the only way they could get out of it...by saying they weren't in stock.

I got the cancellation e-mail too! I wasn't expecting the chair, let's face it!
Interesting choice of words though in the email though. How can they not be in stock? They probably are never in stock! It seemed fairly clear from the order and the original confirmation email that the items are made to customers' orders and not stocked - hence the 5-10 weeks' lead time for delivery.0
