Motivated? Hardly... Got a huge bolt in my tyre (god knows where the hell that has come from), but new tyre will likely cost £250 including fitting. I can get them cheaper off the web (around £180 + £20 fitting), but I'm hardly in a position to wait.

Before you ask, it's a 19" rim and I don't really want to be going with a budget tyre. So I'm on a huge downer right now, but need to be sure in what I drive too.

Sorry to hear that Laze, there's always something crops up isn't there

Well done on all the payments everyone :)

Seems like we're loosing our mojo a little bit looking at the monthly totals (myself included).... anyone got any good tips for keeping motivated?

The joy I get updating my signature is the only thing keeping me going at the mo :D Does anyone have anything 'in real life' to help? I'm thinking of getting a calendar or something and giving myself a gold star sticker for NSD :rotfl: It's like being 6 again.

    OH parents - £9000/£0 paid

It has got very quiet in here. We have 'lost' quite a few people I think which is a shame. Hopefully they will pop back again and give us some updates. Our average payment per person updating has stayed fairly constant, but the number of people updating is getting fewer each month. I fear this month would have been our worst yet without dentonemma's hefty payment earlier on in the month.

I'm the same as you deeperblue, I like to see the siggie going down. The last couple of months have been quite tight so I haven't been able to reduce it as much.

I think for me, I need to try and pay something a bit more regularly to keep the momentum going rather than do it all at payday and then have to wait a month.

    Hello Everyone old and new

Another £40.00 for me today taking my total to

    4322/22000

To be honest I think I set myself up to fail a little but have nearly paid off one debt. I have been struggling too with motivation but had a baby last week and it's made me look at life differently. Sorry to be a baby bore, I have mentioned it on all the threads I go on. Anyway I want to spend as much time as possible at home with him so I now have motivation to hit this debt hard and get as much as possible paid off. Will stop rambling now - sorry. Roll on payday so I can update again.

    Keep going everyone.

Congratulations on the baby, cute picture in your avatar!:j

I think a lot of us set very challenging targets that we had no idea how we would reach, but the important thing is we paid off SOMETHING. It's not necessarily about hitting those targets, though it is great if we do!

    Morning all,

Jwil is it a real pain if I change my amount? I've been off sick for months and am going back to work in 2 weeks so can come back to debt busting, but I don't think i've much of a hope of original amount. Can I change to £5000 please and I'll promise I'll check in regularly?!

    Thanks lovely.

  • I think people tend to get caught up with things during the year, but once Christmas comes, the mind becomes focused on financial matters. I think the only reason I've been so determined to keep updated and pay off as much as possible is because I'm due to give birth around 6th December, and I just wouldn't be able to relax knowing that I have debts that need to be paid.

I'll still have my loan to pay until March next year, but I plan to save up enough to cover the payments so that the monthly payments don't eat into my maternity pay.

On the bright side, I found out the other day that, 3 months after my last loan payment, the bank will be giving me £1180 back of interest! Turns out there was a deal when I took the loan, which I either totally forgot about, or didn't know about in the first place. Discovering this really made my day!
