I'm also a bit of a lurker, can I jump in too please. I have a CC with £3027 on it that I am trying to clear by the end of Feb 2012. So the goal for the end of this year is to clear £2322.
Hi Jenny, welcome to the thread. No more lurking please
I'll add you to the list. Good luck with the debtbusting!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Welcome to the challenge Laze! You sound like you've got a pretty good plan there. The spreadsheet sounds great! I've not managed to make myself one yet, but really ought to get round to it.
I'll pop you down for £495.70/£5000.
Good luck with the debtbusting!
No worries, it's quite basic, but works quite well. I can send it you if you wish. I cannot post links on here, but it can be tweaked how you want (it doesn't calculate tax so well, I think I just put it at 20%. But always lowered the incomes and rounded up the outgoings.
BTW, do I just keep you updated where I'm at as we go along. I will definitely be including the BT to another card in this as it will of course reset that last card to 0% which I can pay off slowly.
Just looking around now for savings account. I know there no point opening on right at this second, but as I'm a plank at all this, I need to "lodge it in my memory".
Thanks for the welcomes0 -

Hi all
Jings it is quiet on here. Hope everyone is well.
I am still tryng to get my head and my life organised. I have decided that aside for really really wanting to pay off my debts as fast as possible I need to be realistic that, yes, I do want a holiday and I do need to build up both a holiday fund and an emergency fund otherwise I will keep on in the cycle of debt.
I am really looking forward to going part time next year but this does mean that my reliable income will be drastically reduced. I have worked out that should be able to save around £800 to £1000 per month and this needs to be divided up between emergency fund, holiday fund an loan repayments. My plan is to allocate the whole amount I can save to different things each month on a rotation. So, for example, August £800 will go to loan repayments, September £800 will go to holiday fund etc. I am not sure how this will work out but it is a start.

Thanks for the offer of the spreadsheet, but I went on an excel course yesterday, so I'm going to try and put my flashy new skills to the testIf it all goes horribly wrong I may come crawling back though

Motivated? Hardly... Got a huge bolt in my tyre (god knows where the hell that has come from), but new tyre will likely cost £250 including fitting. I can get them cheaper off the web (around £180 + £20 fitting), but I'm hardly in a position to wait.
Before you ask, it's a 19" rim and I don't really want to be going with a budget tyre. So I'm on a huge downer right now, but need to be sure in what I drive too.0
