Anybody in Edinburgh able to tell me what the weather's like there? Has the snow and ice gone yet? Got a night out there tomorrow. Still been snowing here at nights and dangerously icy in parts. Not sure if I fancy a night of freezing and falling.

I'm not seeing many jobs just now either. Only done one this year with two booked. I'm avoiding the long trips where its debatable how much profit I'm actually making. I'm trying very hard to make the mystery shopping fit in with what I'm doing normally. Rather than changing my normal life to fit in around the mystery shopping. We'll see how long that lasts.

Hey my husband is working there.. gala is icy a7 outside our house practically there was a7 car accident shut the a7!!

But it seems better today the roads are a bit easier some snow Dalkeith way but its manageable!
  • Just been to login to Gfk and their login site has changed. It is now located here:

Thanks jen. Think the a7 and a68 were both closed yesterday in various places for a while. Even my dog's been slipping and falling and he's got four paw drive.

Edinburgh's fine - most of the ice is gone and more or less no snow. Supposed to warm up tomorrow too, so it'll probably improve. If you can get here then here'll be fine :)
  • Does anybody see the point in the hotel trips abroad? The onyl reimburse the hotel stay and don't cover the flights. It hardly seems worth it!

Someone must be doing them. Totally agree with you - Flights to Cyprus/Bulgaria/Hungary/Wherever would surely be the limiting factor - the cheap deals tend to be available only far in advance so really the only ppl I can think of who would take these are people who need to get to the relevant cities quickly and for some reason haven't booked accomodation. Unless I suppose you can somehow get a ms flight for exactly the same time period....
  • New to this board as I have just decided to return to MS after a 10 year break - my, how things have changed! I need the money due to a serious downturn in work elsewhere... Have signed up with Gapbuster and been allocated a job (a Well Known Fast Food Chain ;))... really looking forward to the effect on my waistline... herrumph...

Have done all sorts of MS work in the past but now live in a town in the Thames Valley which isn't huge and is quite a long way from anywhere else... in the past I found travelling for a job wasn't worth it as even if mileage was paid, travelling time often made the payment per hour very poor. Is that still true? Any ways round it?
  • Oh, and any tips (general or specific) gratefully received!
  • Just had to re-schedule 2 GFK visits for Friday since my car won't start. However, I also have a TNS visit on Friday so makes doign all 3 together slightly easier and cheaper on the parking and petrol!
  • Any ways round it?

    Time travel.

Being a bit out of the way isn't necessarily a bad thing, you may find that you get those desperate end of the month calls to do work. Also if you can find several jobs in the same area it'll obviously workout better for you so sign up to all the companies you can and get a good organiser, and finally, don't even look at rate per hour, or you'll never do one of these jobs.

Welcome back to the wonders of MSing.
