Trust me, there's not loads of work hanging around for ages. The jobs that hang around in my patch are isolated single jobs that are round trips of 40-50 miles. Would need to be daft to do them for the normal fee. There's few shoppers in this area but very few jobs also.
Thats why I've only got one booked for the whole year so far. The good jobs go quick enough.
I wasn't suggesting that there are loads in the whole of Yorkshire or Scotlandjust that there seem to be pockets throughout all of the MS companies where the jobs hang on for ages, so if I saw 2 free jobs on AA for say "stupid street", I bet I could look on the other companies sites and find jobs in that area and if "stupid street" happened to be somewhere I wanted to go on holiday in the summer then it would probably sway me towards there rather than Minehead
Down in Sussex here the jobs seem to go stupidly quickly unless they're banks0 -

But you may find that "Stupid Street" is in an area that they steal your car wheels while you are driving through never mind parked next to the lovely corner shop!
Local knowledge can keep you out of trouble!0 -

Lol
I figured there must be a reason why they were left untouched
Bet if all those young gangsters did some mystery shopping the service round there would improve rapidly0 -
I see in the news now that RE's music shop are shutting 40 stores, and 20 book stores. I didn't realise the music store owned the book store, but it will affect the coffee shops in them too, that another company does!0

Yeah, i know what you mean. I do see it as well but you would probably have to go nearer to the cities to do it. In my area a town of 5000 is a 'big' town. No shopping centres and barely any big national chain stores. If you were holidaying and shopping in Scotland then make sure you know your geography. Villages 20 miles away can get classed as being in my town.0 -

hahah hey now my tiny town has 3 major supermarkets --- ok we have nothing else.. but we have 3 supermarkets.
but im suppose to be local to jedburgh --15+ miles away and according to companies i shouldn't mind going 30-40 mile round trip for less then a 10.000 -
But jen, you're in the big town!!!
Has it's advantages sometimes being in the middle of nowhere. Companies cant always wait for the 3/6/12 month rotation period. Got a few of these last month. All at increased fees. The best was supposed to be a 6 month rota that I had done just two weeks before. And have you noticed that our local TNS diy shop has always got a bonus on it nowadays?0 -
Oh pooh. The funster proofreading team are back on RE. Had 3 queries on 1 report. Eeeeek!0

Such a fantastic thread, thanks to all involved in putting it all together. I've asked UKMonkey for a copy of his spreadsheet too, it's sounds like just what I need0
