I've been saying for yonks that alerts for Gfk and GR don't work as jobs are released at different times for different areas to different people, but the general consensus was that these should still be posted.

Personally I think if there's a few and it's not been alerted yet then you can do, as even with RE I tend to notice that my area sees the jobs about an hour after the alert, so it can be an alert that they will be coming soon and to keep an eye out even if they're not in your area yet.

However a lot of the time Gfk (can't comment on GR) email you to tell you that you have assignments in your area, so if this happens I definately wouldn't alert it. The whole point of the alerts thread is that you get the email notification and then check the thread.

Tbh I don't see what all the fuss is about with not alerting anymore, if you use the alerts thread and check job boards once you see an alert then you're not going to repeat one, as when you first see the upload it will be because you logged on after getting the alert. So you can easily not post duplicate alerts just by using the thread, no need to read previous posts (although I normally check the last couple just to make sure someone hasn't beaten me to it by a couple of minutes).

Re: the charm bracelets. If we can't buy them, they can sod off, I ain't buying anything for £100 or a watch for £500 with the reimbursement they given. No chance.

You can buy them, below is a direct copy of the relevant portion of the guidelines:

"Make a purchase. You can buy anything you like (even bracelets or charms)"

I've got a feeling they 'might' have been excluded in 2010 however!
  • They're probably similar to the posh sandwiches I can see at London City Airport for every week between now and the end of July!! Sooooooo tempted to accept the end of July one just to make the rest disappear!!!

I think (but am not certain) that this would cause all the other posh sandwiches to disappear too. Certainly works the other way round - accepted a local one and all the airport ones went:j
What's more, I completed the visit and they haven't come back!

Yes, that's what's stopping me too, 'cos I like to do the Bluewater & Lakeside one occasionally!!

Last time's brief was the same as this. They wanted you to get the assistant to talk about something other than the bracelet/charm, but could buy them in the end after they had discussed the other items. So it's all good.

True, but the same can be said for Aba-i and RE - perhaps others? GR certainly release the jobs on to their website before they send the email, so the alerts can help with them. GFK are an odd one, the Alerts thread have helped me get jobs with them but it's really hard to work out whether the jobs are released to the first lot of shoppers or not so I think they are more of a grey area.

Agreed! and what about the Secret Eating place? - posts by a Platinum member aren't greatly useful for a Bronze member, but I'd like to keep them to know what is coming.

Good point - as a bronze member myself, the posts are very useful as they don't tend to take too long to filter through...

I've just got the go ahead for a potential project in Bristol. You'd be working with me for a single client. Please PM me if you're in the area and interested! It's a nice one, but the finer details are yet to be worked out.
