As we are on the subject of accounts, well sort of, I was just wondering what other people did re invoices etc. I have just started with a new company and every month I get an invoice and this is great. But many companies don't do this, do they........for many years I have just been submitting my bank statements and notes where I have been paid in cash/cheque etc.....would this be sufficient if my accounts were ever questioned?
I submit a sheet showing fees and deductions for each job too...but the main evidence is my bank account. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Yes, but tax isn't 100%. You may be paying 20% tax on some of your MS income and 40% on the bit that pushes you over, but surely this is better than paying 20% on some of your MS income and forfeiting the rest by doing jobs that lose you money?
The trips to Glasgow etc are to meet up with pals anyway
but by doing a MS meal or shop the petrol is tax deductable.0 -

Ah now it makes sense, thought you meant you drove ridiculously far away just to avoid paying tax.
Anyway off out now for my birthday0 -

Personally I use Sage but that's personal preference. It's overkill for most MSers. As long as you keep track of where it came from and what it was for you're fine. Your sheet details all that and your bank statements showing the amounts you received supports the sheet. Can't see you having any problems in the unlikely event of an investigation0 -

pretty sure they would not be moronic enough to do this for a safety issue. they could be sued for thousands if someone is ill and if it is a safety issue they must inform the authorities immediately. is an offence for them not to. they dont know who works for company that cant be named so assume they would not take the chance. plenty of whistleblowers around:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -

Usually it's a minor issue ie they've printed the wrong date codes on something or missed an ingredient out, not screwed the lids on tight enough etc. It all boils down to cost though, full recalls cost thousands and thousands not only in the cost of the recall but damage to the brand reputation. Often it's cheaper for them to pull the products on the quiet, suffer the costs of any litigation from defective products that remain in circulation and let the brand and future sales remain in tact!0 -
I did a couple of garage jobs last week. I really wasn't looking forward to them but they were so easy. In an out in a few minutes. The company wasn't even mentioned both times so much more straightforward than expected. I was planning to use my old address and my maiden name so if any correspondence did end up there the new owners would just bin it, as it happens it never came to that.
Ditto. Much easier and quicker than I thought!0 -
Anyone ever been offered a flight allowance to accept a job? Is it worth it?0
