I've e-mailed them about it, but I can't ring as I've forgotten my fone this morning and I can't use the work fone as it is recorded0

The reason why I have not read all of the posts is that there is so many of them> Like with the Tesco threads, that I think are separated into three, I think this thread would benefit from separated into technical and conversation/community threads. I am sure there is a lot of good information, but there is also chat which is hard to get through (over 2000 messages I think) especially when you have just started. So its not a criticism but if people want a summary I don't think it deserves criticism. If you not wanting to repeat yourself, don't.
I understand what you mean about different threads but that's a lot of work. There's already a lot of info at the start to help people get started and it does get updated from time to time. That's the technical bit. That's the summary.
I read all the threads when I started. I think if I'm working for myself and wanting to make money doing it, then the onus is on me to find out as much as I can. I've done a lot of googling trying to find out which companies do which clients.
Dont forget the alerts threads as well. A read of that will give you a lot of information on what type of clients the different companies have. You can also work out a few other useful things from it.
Newcomers shouldnt take comments on here personally. It isnt meant that way. But a lot of time the info is already there if you look. The first posts answer a lot of the common questions. I've been doing this for 18 months now and I couldnt have done it without this forum. So again, a big thanks to everybody who's helped me in the past, including those who no longer post but who might read this.0 -

I got one. It's lovely (not). I will use it for every single job (not). Did anyone else notice that the covering letter advises taking a back-up timer as well as this piece of equipment.
I think that the client/Gyp decided that staff need a bit more help when it comes to spotting the MSer. There will be signs up in staff rooms telling them to look for the person with a branded timer (toy moble phone) in one hand, a real mobile phone in the other, looking like billy-no-mates, giving the regulation order and asking for a receipt.clippy_girl wrote: »and one more thing- is anyone else being harrassed by esa? they are phoning me at least 6 times a day and leaving me messages saying is job available. i dont call them back as i am not available but they still call me (once 9 minutes apart). always call from different person so clearly do not communicate.thinking of removing number or deleting my account. dont do that much for them and is so annoying!
ESA do seem desparate! The job dates just drift as the deadlines pass, then the phonecalls start. Allocators seem to vary in their approach. Enhanced fees are sometimes offfered and rotation restrictions are sometimes by-passed.
However, they do seem reasonable sometimes if you speak to the right person (seems like a matter of luck, though). I can't fault their response last week when I visited a closed site and they wanted a revisit done. Are JKS and annmichaels still running?
Just that neither job board has anything in the UK at all, and JKS has nothing in America.
I haven't seen anything for JKS in months. I have been with them for years, and a couple of clients used to appear regularly. I don't know anything about annmichaels.0 -

Some clients are really dumb. I got a query back saying the store did not have any employees with the names I gave. Really? In that case why does it say on the receipt that was served by non-existant staff?0

Perhaps its an old member of staff's code, or perhaps someone knows how to set up new users onscreen. My cynical head would be telling the clients to look that user up on the system and check their activity. Setting up a false user name or using an old code is one of the easiest ways of hiding transactions that might be a bit dodgy, eg Jane might use Johns code to log into the till, do a lot of sales then refund them all and pocket the money with all blame falling on John.0 -

Nope. There are two names on the till receipt. They match the two names on the name badges the staff were wearing. The comment was that there were no staff or managers with any of the names I provided from the name badges.
I think the client must have got the stores confused.0
