However high your income is (and, believe me, £3,500 a month is not that great these days)

If I only had to pay £350 a month on debt, £3500 would be an obscene amount of money to make per month in my book....

when you, who haven't even tried this approach, know all about it and can be so sure that a certain method won't work.

Yes, all I've been doing for the past five years is saying "wheres my loan" and haven't tried everything else....can you tell me what I'm having for tea tonight because I'm not sure yet, but I'm sure you can tell me...
  • Hang on, are you saying that people in debt deserve a higher income than those that aren't?!

But you aren't in that situation, you are in a situation where you are swamped with debt and your solution is to try and take on more.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
For several reasons, I sat my daughter down a few weeks ago and explained that we didn't have much/any disposable cash for Xmas and that for this year we would try a handmade Xmas.

We have been busy little bees and DD is really excited at giving and receiving handmade gifts! DS's understood too!

    Well done!

What a refreshing post in an otherwise dismal thread. :T:T:T

I haven't once suggested that my salary pays for food or that my partner doesn't have any expenses of her own.

You said "My wage = £1900

    That leaves £40 ok.

Now I need to pay mortgage, electric, phone, shopping, travel"

I assumed by shopping that you meant food. Still, it doesn't explain how your partner contributes to the finances. Are they spending all their money as well?

And self-loathing over how much you earn would be fine if you weren't in so much debt.

How about a Statement of Affairs? Then we might at least understand the situation.
  • Aaaaaaaaah! My brain hurts.

Listen up, Guys.............Until ciscokid experiences their own personal "lightbulb moment" - this thread will be like that famous west end play, The Mousetrap.

It will run and run forever..............

Well, the only thing you've actually stated that you've tried is 'where's my loan?' and 'damn you bank, how dare you not lend to me'.

Tried following any of the advice on this thread?
  • beanz and toast is always nice this time of year, and if your lucky throw in an egg too.

I wish we had a monthly income of £3500, wow.

You're quite right to not even try it. And you're definitely right to say that being in financial difficulty is judged by what you earn, rather than how much debt you are in relative to your income.

Well this has been the attitude of every debt management program, CAB, bank, "can i just pay £1 please" and every other suggestion mention here....its maybe hard to understand that what works for some people doesn't work for others...but trust me, if any of those methods worked for me, they would have by now, because I seem to waste all my time trying absolutely everything possible, and the lack of progress anywhere leads me to full circle to one solution...reducing the amount I need to pay each month and the overall debt into ONE payment....I have been going in circles for 5 years, I'm sorry I come across as insnae, believe me, I am...I have been in and out of mental institues many times, I can't get through the day without 80mg of prozac, just now I am without prescription and suferent panic attacks every six seconds...I would prefer people didnt reply than reply the same old schtick....
