My daughter is 6 and has a lot of friends. We live in area full of rich snobs so she will never live up to her peers, and i have no intention of her ever doing so.... but I have been the one at school trying to change the topic after the holidays when everyone is bragging about what they got for christmas..its not nice. the difference is my dad was an unemployed alcoholic and my mum worked a part time job, so money was tight/non existant.
We probably earn 10 times more than my parents ever did, yet my kids are getting the same rough ride I got, and that just doesn't sit right with me.0 -

Well what don't you want to do anything about it? You seem to think that income = disposal income and nobody is able to shake the idea from your head. You don't even think you have financial problems even though you are taking out payday loans, your children sit in a cold house and you are here trying to work out how to borrow more money.0 -

Cisco, we dont have a combined income of £3500, but neither are we in debt, the only debt we have is our mortgage, and usual household bills.
We know what we can spend and when we cant, we are happy, we dont have much but we have each other.
Get a grip and speak to people that CAN HELP, instead of feeling sorry for yourself. I feel sorry for the kids having to be in a selfish enviroment like yours.
At the end of the day, as harsh as i may sound, there is only yourself to blame.
Ps have you tried Branston beanz, there better than heinz0 -

ciscokid. May I suggest that you write 100 lines. Something along the lines of
"I am a financial wally who refuses to take good advice and prefers to keep my head in the sand".
That just about sums up this thread I think.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -

Don't worry, it's just a money saving ploy, it's NOT TRUE!
I tried to believe in Santa as a kid, I really did - he even wrote back to me! But having three older cynical siblings made it very difficult.0 -
cisco = troll
surely by now, any sane and normal person that is writing this desperately and wanting to break the debt cycle would be seen to be taking action instead of whinging on a forum saying "oh my life is so bad"
I'd love to see what job you do to earn (x) amount of money that involves you being able to post on here so frequently .... probably just some school kid off sick and posting for a laugh0 -
phew, was getting worried there violalass.

Some people just can't be helped.
What annoys me is that so many good people have given sound advice that has been completely ignored by ciscokid.
There are many people out there who really are interested in receiving the help and support of this forum.
So much energy is being wasted on someone who I really hope is a troll, because no one surely could be so pigheaded.
I think it's time for people to walk away from this thread.
Everyone can walk away with their head held high, knowing that decent advice has been given and just ignored.
One day the OP may actually act like a responsible adult and take heed of the advice0
