Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tues 14th DecThis is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Welcome Beckseven.
Lovely pics NPM.
Up early here, can't sleep as my brain is working overtime.
Damp this morning, so no ice to scrape off the car.
Plans for today include writing & posting all my Yule cards, I made them myself, they have mistletoe pic on.
I collected the script for my glasses, I'm going to order a spare pair online.
Sausage egg & chips for tea as I'm feeling lazy & Mr Grumpy is driving me insane as his Kindle hasn't arrived yet, but the case has!
No other plans for today apart from maybe throwing something heavy at the next stroppy teen who calls me a silly b1tch or a fat cow, the students are all full of Christmas spirit, repeat to self 'I love my job & I love children.
Keep safe & warm everyone.
Hugs Hester.

Good morning, Hester, and all who follow.
Hester - I admire you working with stroppy teenagers! I think throwing something heavy might just do the trick. I hope they are all nice to you today!
Thank you all for your continuing good wishes for my BIL. No news on the second stent that should have been put in yesterday. My sister is waiting for the doctor to return her call, so I hope they're not kept waiting too long. All they want to do is get him strong enough for the chemo to start, and any delay pushes this further and further back, and time is not on their side, sadly.
It is really really cold here right now. Yesterday was freezing, and I suspect today will be the same. I am off to the farm this afternoon; our local English book lady is having a regular book fair and book club in the farm's tearoom, and today is the first day. I'm sure it will be a real success, and I'm looking forward to going along. She has hundreds of English books, all at just 3 euros each, and she will buy them back for one euro when you've finished reading them, which I think is really good. She does DVDs at the same rates, too. It's so good to find English books here; they're like gold dust!
Our dinner last night was lovely - a huge piece of pork fillet from the farm, with roasties, courgettes and carrots. The meat was really delicious. Today we have some proper bacon which would be impossible to buy here if it wasn't for the farm. We don't eat pork every single day, though! We still love our bolognaise and shepherd's pie, and the mince here is very good, thankfully.
I'm hoping all my Christmas cards don't get held up. I see from the news in the UK that there's a real backlog of post waiting to be delivered.
I'm a bit cross because some money was taken from my PayPal account in an unauthorised transaction. I've set the ball rolling with PayPal's disputed transaction process, so I hope it doesn't take long to sort out. I was going to order some more jewellery-making stuff from eBay, but that will have to wait until the dispute is sorted out. I only hope I get the money back, because I certainly didn't buy anything from this particular company. I've researched and found that it's a gaming company - and neither DH nor I ever play computer games, so it's obviously a mistake or a scam. £39 was taken; not a huge sum, I know, but it's my money!
Well, I think I'll go and put the kettle on again. I need a cuppa to get me warm!
I hope you all have a good day, and that those who are poorly are better soon.

morning!
just having a quick slice of toast before leaving for work.
frosty here. Dogs are just having a game of ball in the garden. I finish at 3 today - need to do a bit of cleaning as I've noticed a fair few cobwebs:eek: think I might make cheese and potato pie for tea. Got a couple of pressies to wrap.
Hoping DH gets a call about when his interview is today and he's also going to give his details to an employment agency thats got a good reputation locally. He needs to do a cv .Can anyone point him in the direction of some good advice on how to do a good one please?
Mioliere - (((hugs))) to your bil and familyx

Morning Peeps
damp here this morning and warmer than i expected as its above freezing, we have snow forecast later today but i`m hoping that the forecast is wrong as i`ve had enough of the stuff for a while. I wouldn`t mind a very thin covering for Christmas day but thats about it as we haven`t recovered from the last lot yet. It would be nice to get some of the parcels that i`ve been waiting for since last month as some of them have to be sent on to others and i`m starting to panic a bit about some of the prezzies now.
Plans today are to nip out for some cooked deli meats from Aldi, they also do a soft dog biscuit treat thing that little oldie loves so i shall get a couple of bags of those too. Then the living room needs a good scrub and the floor cleaning and polishing then i can put the tree up :j bit of clutter to sort out but i`m thinking that this will end up getting shoved out of the way until after the celebrations
The small chest freezer needs sorting out - think i`ll do this in a few mins actually as i need to make some room in there. I have various tubs of fruit from the garden so i`ll probably start off some raspberry wine and then i can prep some festive stuff and freeze it, i need to get organised early on this year.
Mioliere - Hope that things get moving quickly for your BIL.
Beckseven - Welcome
Hester - Hope that your day goes well
I`m off to find my gloves and sort out said freezer
Have a super day peeps.

Morning all
Dark but damp here this morning, appears to have been raining most of the night so hope it hasn't then turned to frost.
DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock, so no coffee in bed for me! Dinner last night was fish etc. Tonight will be a quick meal, as DS1 has Cadets xmas party and DS2 has a xmas party this afternoon at school, cooked some sausages rolls last night for them to take.
Have just checked bank balance and gas supplier has managed to refund the money they owe me, it's only taken nearly 2 weeks, but I'm grateful they've managed it this side of xmas tho.
Parcel we've also been waiting for to come from Scotland arrived yesterday, DH is one happy man now.
I need to buy another sack of potatoes, fortunately I had nearly finished the sack I've got but they froze in the bottom of the bag due to the cold temperatures, I store them in the shed. I know it's been cold but that really must have been cold! I've always bought potatoes by the sack (cheapest way as we live in fruit and veg growing area) and I've never had them freeze before!
Working today over at the other office, so will make a nice change as haven't been over there for a while, hoping to catch up with some of my friends that I only see when working there, just to say "hi" before xmas.
Time to get ready for work.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning all,
Not as cold here this morning, but meant to be getting much worse by the end of the week. Buterfly I am interested to see if that website you put up is correct.
Busy day here today, I am going to hoover and clean through this morning, then take the dog out, and prep the dinner, I shall then sit down and wrap some presents, I must start today, I meant to do it yesterday but I , phoned my mum to tell her I was nipping out for an hour to get wrapping paper, and she asked if i would pick her up, 4 hours later we arrived home, she likes to shop
I also need to do my last bit of at home work before Xmas, and get my invoice sent off, hopefully they will send the cheque back sharpish.
Dinner tonight is sausages in giant yorkies, mash and veg, have gone off toad a bit, cos the yorkie always goes a bit soggy at the bottom, so i cook them seperatly now.
Tappers, I hope your dh finds something soon xx
Hugs to Kathy and JackieO.
Have fun all xx0 -
Morning folks, really busy at the moment so not able to post everyday. Its actually above freezing this morning - 2degrees!!! Got all christams shopping done yesterday apart from 2 which I will get over the next couple of days. Will be unindated at work today as have had a couple of days off, which I should have had a couple of weeks ago but were cancelled due to the snow. Going to make the effort to get as much done as possible over the next two days before the bad weather returns again. So in the lunch hour today it will be bank, post office, accountants and farm shop, and then two mins to grab a sandwich! Omolette, peas and chips for tea tonight, and then we will get some wrapping done - oh how I dislike doing that!!!!!
Hope everyone who is under the weather are feeling better, and hugs to those in need,
SuzyEvery days a School day!0
