Parking ticket
Comments

I once parked illegally at a coastal country park in Hampshire. The car park caters for several hundred cars. It was January, blowing a gale and raining, and mine was the only car there. Stupidly thought that the charges didn't apply out of season, and set out on walk along the beach with my dogs without buying a ticket. Had got about 100 yards when I turned around to see traffic warden turn up on a bicyle (it's about 4 miles from the nearest village of any size!), and put a ticket on my car. Had to laugh!0

Without commenting on the rights and wrongs of the ticket be very wary of going to court.
A friend of mine who had a good case for appeal took a parking ticket to Magistrates Court not only did they lose and see the original £20 rise to £152 (increased fine and costs), but they were left seething and bitter as well.
Paying it would be the less stressful option.0 -
I agree it seems unfair but unfortunately we hve to abide by the law. And you did get away with 8 hoursgrilli wrote:yeah i admit it was overnight, but the traffic warden didnt know that. it just seemed harsh to be issued a ticket for 4 minutes, all he had to do was knock the door and ask us to move it and we would have.
I don't know how much a prking ticket is these days but how much would it cost to argue it in court againt the actual fine? 0 -

I just got one about 10 mins ago & it was £30 if you pay within in 14 days, then it rises to £60 if you pay within 28...
Not sure if it's the same everywhere, but that's what it is for Glasgow. Nice to save.0 -

Thank you, I had no idea it was so expensive. It really does seem an amount rather over the top

Traffic Wardens are Little Hitlers who love giving people grief. You will have to pay your ticket there is no way out.Just be glad your not a trafficwarden living there sad life were their only joy is giving tickets.Loosers the lot of em!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0

Sorry shiller ... traffic wardens are just people doing their job giving tickets to people who can not read, are incapable of following kindergarten level instructions or have no idea what common sense is. Some losers just happen to think that certain laws do not apply to them and that they can do as they wish. I have seen the abuse some traffic wardens take ... they should not have to, and should be capable of writing on the ticket that the pratt parked illegally was abusive, whereby the fine should automatically be doubled.shiller_supreme wrote:Traffic Wardens are Little Hitlers who love giving people grief. You will have to pay your ticket there is no way out.Just be glad your not a trafficwarden living there sad life were their only joy is giving tickets.Loosers the lot of em!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have paid my fair share of tickets and the common thread with them all was that I was aprked somewhere I should not have been ... and I knew it ... I can read, just decided to chance my arm. The only losers are the people who through their own stupidity, laziness or whatever are having to pay out £30-60 fines.
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
I don't think so.Respect the laws and the bylaws of this country and most of all respect the people who implement them. There is usually a complaints procedure should you wish to use it.Failing that you take to court.
Now, should I park illegally for just a couple of minutes, then when I get a ticket I'll blame the ticketer not only that it's not fair ,but also slag them off with abuse, race, colour, the job they do etc.Oh for good measure I know I'll hit
them too.Yeah I feel really good now. Then I can teach my kids to show what respect is....safe!!Oh and for good measure I'll give my partner some when I get home.Oh the little things in life that can get some of you down. :eek:0 -

Not a TW by any chance
Ivan,
You forgot to mention the people who are just too slow in returning to their car when the hour is up. Usually you can get away with 80 mins in 1 hour space. I never argue parking tickets I just cough up my £30. My congestion charge penalty appeal is still ongoing though. Blooming LT. Hotel told me verbally and its on their website that they are outside the zone. What they didn't mention was that if you follow their website instructions to reach the hotel you have to go through the zone. We went through 10 mins before it ended. When we arrived at hotel we asked them how do we pay it (living in Wales no info known). They told us to go to PO in the morning. We then found out you only have until 10pm on the day of entering the zone to pay the £5 after that its £10 until midnight and after midnight £100 penalty, reduced to £50 if paid within 7 days. They refuse to accept payment over the phone they have to send you a penalty notice (waste of more money and paper). We have appealed and the information they provided to the appeal hearing is fraudulent. Luckily as both of us are employed in the public sector we could prove this fact. We were told we only had 7 days to challenge their evidence back in November 2004. When I rang last week to find out why I hadn't heard anything told there is a huge backlog of appeals so it won't be heard for months yet.
