Parking ticket

The reason the parking ticket states that the car was parked there between 08.52 and 08.56 is to prove that it was there and parked for a defineable period, when there is no activity going on that may be allowed at that place at that time, eg loading/unloading and that the driver was not present. It doesn't mean that you were necessarily there only for 4 minutes, just that this was the time period the attendant viewed your car. Would it have made you feel better if they had left it for, say 20 minutes, and come back, then the ticket could have said 08.52 to 09.12?
I wouldn't waste your money on appealling. You were caught fair and square, whatever your extenuating circumstances. I'm not having a go - I once caught a parking ticket in a little quiet road which became resident parking and my visitor's permit had run out 10 mins earlier. The warden knew where I was too! Just gave the ticket, turned round and walked the other way again so he didn't have to pass the house where I was. (I was late cos I was feeding my baby) I just paid up and put it down to experience.0 -
I say smile through gritted teeth and pay the fine - it was a fair cop. What possible grounds can you appeal it on, you have admitted the car was parked there overnight. I would consider myself lucky that it had not got towed.
People are far too quick to blame traffic wardens and vent their anger on them. They are only doing their job and enforcing the law ... and no I am not a traffic warden ... and yes I have had to pay several fines in my time. They have heard every excuse and the bottom line is that the person was illegally parked. As Judge Judy would say 'Don't pi$$ on my leg and tell me its raining'.

were the yellow lines visible in court they state that the lines have to be visible if they were covered by leaf mulch or mud etc you could argue that when you pulled up you were not aware of the yellow lines there or at least your partner wasn't aware of them, might be worth a try but it might be expensive in the end if it all goes pear shaped!Wins so Far: 21" lcd monitor, 6 day all expenses paid holiday to China, 8800GTX gfx card, 2x Panasonic cameras, 12 cups and Loads of Twix's, Coffee Lovers Hamper - Wild bean cafe. I did get out of one fine a few years back. I pulled into a parking bay - which I had used daily for over 5 years. It was limited to 1 hour between the hours of 8am to 6pm. As it was outside my business I used it early in the morning to load and unload. Anyway I pulled in this one day about 9.45am. Two traffic wardens were standing there ticketing the car behind me. I assumed it was because they had over stayed their hour. Both of them said good morning and I carried on. When I came back 15 minutes later there was a ticket on my car. New signs had gone up that day saying loading only between 8am and 10am. The lousy warden could have told me. I wrote in to dispute the ticket as I was was loading technically and pointing out I was unaware of the new rules so hadn't displayed a sign to the affect. I was successful. If it had been a fair cop I would have paid up like always.

I think that since the OP says he lived there that for him or his better half to say that they were covered in leaves would be insulting a judges intelligence... and the the judge would probably double any fine.s30jok wrote:were the yellow lines visible in court they state that the lines have to be visible if they were covered by leaf mulch or mud etc you could argue that when you pulled up you were not aware of the yellow lines there or at least your partner wasn't aware of them, might be worth a try but it might be expensive in the end if it all goes pear shaped!

They have no right to force entry to your property...just smile at them and ignore themThe Early bird may catch the worm ...but its the second mouse that gets all the cheese!0

They can however clamp your car and take it away (I think) - so sell the car and get a new one (in someone elses name preferably).0
