An LED TV is an LCD TV, the only difference is the back light used.
But they do make for slimmer cases.

  • I have a standard Sony Bravia 32" LCD TV which I used to watch the World Cup in HD with. Didn't notice any blurring/tearing/ghosting at all.

anybody any suggestions out of the 3--they all have the right connectionsHDMİ etc

None of the above. For £599 you can get a Panasonic Viera TXP42G20 with THX Certified display, built in Freesat HD tuner and Freeview HD tuner from Richer Sounds. It has "Excellent" review on AVForums. I paid £900 for mine from them literally 6 months ago.

50Hz. UK tv is broadcast at 50Hz (imagine 50 images per second on your screen - not quite right, but it will do!). If a TV is 100Hz, it's just trying to fill in the gaps, these filler bits are called 'sub fields'. Some TVs are quite good at this, but it's mostly just a marketing gimmick. Look at the response time of the panel for a better indication. No point in a 600Hz screen if it's too laggy to show it anyway. Walk away from anyone who goes on about Hertz.

Some excellent advice from Hammyman there. Not sure whether you use 'Freeview' in Turkey, but if you can find that set, or similar, it's a good one.

Actually the refresh rate is 25 frames per second. It takes two passes at 50hz to produce a complete frame with an interlace scan.

I have to say that with my HD TV, I only notice the difference in quality when I switch from HD back to normal. If I dont watch anything in HD for a while, I tend to forget why I bought it!

i have cable and satelite so the source is good at all times(rain etc)--i keep getting conflicting info about this Hz --people are saying i will suffer blur on a 50hz set with footie because of the action!--sounds like this isnt as conclusive as that---how do you get the info of the response speed from manufacturers/shops ads??

Yeah but the difference in backlighting makes for a difference in picture quality, particularly with regard to the 'depth' of blacks and whites. LED trumps LCD in most cases.
