Any chance you can speak to AOL and see if they can reset your password etc?0

I have emailed them but as I understand it you can only speak to someone if you hold a paying account with them which I don't.I used to be with them for the internet connection but just kept the email address going when I changed providers. I have a different email account as well but that one seems ok so I don't think it is a problem with my Mac. It would seem that it is only my AOL account that has been targeted.
If anyone knows if there is a tel no I can call and get the password changed I would be grateful.0 -
so the 'hackers' had actually changed your password? so you had to use the security answer reset way.
how do you normally read you email on that account? just by webmail (on the internet)? if that is true than all you need to do is change your password, if you are locked out just wait until you are unlocked, then log in and under options if change password.0 -
is it not locked out because of the spam this is AOL's normal routine0
-
I found out about this because a lot of the emails bounced back to me- glad that they did but I was wondering why this was.If the email has been sent using my email address how is it that some of them are not being accepted the other end?0

No the password has not been changed but it did not accept security question answers, not sure if I have them right as the account was set up years ago and I have never had to use them before now.
I always get my mail automatically through Safari.0 -
they have either been bounced back becuase they are invalid addresses or the botnet is known about and the text within the message is banned from the email servers0
