so the barometer of house prices is Percy saying that they are at "resonable levels".

forget that houses will sell for what people will buy them for but "resonable levels" for house prices is what poor Percy can afford...

<chucky laughs at the Devonian virus spreading on this forum>

Well actually I was using it as a term to to which if all houses of a certain type where worth £100k the over priced ones have also fell to the £100K which would then be the reasonable price in the current market, I do believe most people would have understood what I meant... I say most...

As for what I can afford, with my current income and lower local prices I can afford quite a large house if I wished for one.

Every "bear" says that. Makes a bit of a mockery of the "unaffordable" argument.

None of this is news to me.

I've known for a long time that prices are falling.

don't forget they've all saved up for a massive deposit but then complain in the next thread they're complaining that they're aren't enough 90% mortgages available.

    it's desperate, just desperate..

Not really, my other half and I have worked very hard to get a higher than average salarys for our local area, to which houses are very affordable for us.

But unlike many bulls (not all of them I will add) I don't have the 'I'm alright jack' attitude, just because something is affordable to me doesn't make it affordable to the masses and I see the larger picture here not just my own.

Just because I can afford something, doesn't mean it's a good price to buy it at. Even assuming every bear is truthful about there current situation, which I doubt (as I doubt bulls and everyone else on the net) the argument has never been prices will fall because any specific bear can't afford them.

That's a good first step towards your redemption from debt passing.

Now tell us what you do to help ease the situation or is your compassion more than enough for these unfortunate souls?

    Asking prices aren't selling prices.

Really ? You really are a clever codpiece. Well, not clever enough to notice the difference between a minus and a plus.

Now, when RM were regularly announcing increases in asking prices, the bulls got all aroused, and the bears said "but asking prices aren`t selling prices". So, let`s be fair, eh ? The bears are getting slightly excited by -3% asking prices, but let us not forget the golden rule.

Thing is, if you ask a bit more, what are you likely to get ?

If you ask a bit less, what are you likely to get ?

And isn`t there a property shortage ? Isn`t there a recovery in the economy ? If sellers are asking for less, is there something we don`t know ?

Well I am not buying multiple properties therefore forcing prices up and then getting the priced out to pay said mortgages... I mean rent...

Not much more I can do really, all I hope is the BOE, Banks and government see sense and let house prices correct.

Hey you could help this along by selling some of your 'empire'... redemption for being a parasite. ;)

A long winded way of saying "I'm not doing anything."

Why would I want to sell my rental house? I'm not claiming to be anything other than "alright Jack". Thing is, when all is said and done, so are you. You are doing what is best for yourself, nothing more nothing less.

(Incidentally if my tenant did want to buy my rental house I would sell it to her, but I'm not so naive as to think I'd be doing it for some altruistic purpose)
