I'm not sure what's going wrong with my phone? It's been in use for 2-3 days now and has gone really slow. It takes a while recognise what I tap when I write a message and the scrolling has gone jerky.

I've removed task killer app and the last app I've installed and then restarted. It's improved it a bit but still not perfect. Any ideas and tips?

I guessed it might be a few things, but I couldn't really see how to run a diagnostics or can't find where the spare memory is. I presumed that since it was based on unix like my mac, I would just remove the last few items and restart and that would clear the memory hog.

That hasn't worked so I'm asking for the next step :)

  • Go to Settings > Applications > Development and tick 'USB Debugging' Then try restarting your phone.

This is a known issue with the Desire HD and should be fixed with a software update soon but this will fix it in the meantime. It will also improve battery life :D

Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug). ;)

Does it need to be actually connected to a computer or just ticked? Does it need a restart? I did think the battery life was a bit pants too. I was barely getting 8 hours when I had wifi/mobile internet on. Had to turn the screen to the dimmest setting too.

It's on post 5. It's running 2.2 and I've already removed the last few apps and task killer and done a restart which should kill the memory hog.

What would a factory reset do? I don't want to lose all the data I've ported and all the photos that have been taken?

A Factory Reset will remove all apps / settings from the phone *BUT NOT on the SDCARD*

all items on the SDCard will be safe!

I've done a few resets / wipes & installs of my DHD and everything on the SDCard is fine!!

Also best thing to do is to power down the phone and take the battery out
A "Restart" just restart the phone software
& "Power off" is usually just Standby.

Best to take the battery out for a few seconds to really power it down, then see if things go a bit faster...
