Well I managed to locate the presents and bring them down to wrap, put a white wash on, wrote out a card to my M&D (forgot last night as it was bought seperately to the others and I can't seal it until Moon gets home to sign it).

Advice needed: Have wrapped another 2 presents as well, and I'm umming and ahhing over what to give SIL. We opened their present the other day when we got home from dinner at MIL's. Moon will be giving his brother a big Jelly Belly Bean machine (via his Mum on Tuesday as she's going to dinner with them), and I had intended to give the SIL some bits of bath stuff etc from my collection of presents as I don't really get along that well with them. However, when we opened their gifts (a box of Heroes and a cracker with a ball in for Ebony), a card fell out with £50 in it! They never usually give us much at all, so it was a complete shock, but I don't usually even spend that amount on my own family, and money is tight this year. I'm guessing they've been extra generous because they know about the wedding coming up (we weren't intending to invite them to the reception either because they'd make it all about them and spoil it for us), but now I don't know what to do for them (we'll definitely have to invite them to the reception now, as I'd feel really mean if this is why). I've got a cat calendar that I was going to give to the MIL that I could add to the bath stuff, but do you think this will be enough? Or, instead, I've just found a fluffy dressing gown that my sister gave me a few years ago that hasn't been taken out of the ribbon wrapping it?
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Afternoon all :D It was morning when I started reading :rotfl:

    Happy Birthday Dippypud & ANW'smum:bdaycake:

Mumof2 - ((hugs)) for you and DD and happy birthday to DS

Well our snow has turned mostly to ice. I am so not looking forward to going to the job centre tomorrow morning. We're supposed to be there for 9.30am  Still debating whether we'd be better off walking or trying to catch a bus. The bus will cost me about £5 since we'd have to get it there and back, personally I'm happy to walk, but I'll see how bad it is in the morning.

DD has been in bed reading since 8.30am and refusing to get up until she'd finished the book. I'm gathering from the "yes"'s thats just sounded out from upstairs she's finished and I might actually see her today :rotfl:Speak of the devil.... DD isn't feeling too good so I'm setting her the task of clearing the freeview of all the films & programmes she has recorded... about 12 hours worth I think  I expect she's caught the chest/throat etc infection I had since I still had to prepare meals etc while sick.

I'm off to put the smoke alarm up. Been trying to find screws that would fit 'cause I've lost the ones it was put up with originally :o Oh well...upstairs I go!

    Hi Nicki :)
Hope you all get better soon - know exactly where you're coming from and it isn't pleasant :( Loads of kids around us have been ill - 30 kids missing from two classes in my nephew's school in one week alone!! But thinking positively in that we'd rather be ill this week than next weekend over Xmas :)
    Get well soon all x

That's a bit better now. In the last hour I've managed to strip two beds, collect most of laundry, put first wash on, emptied and re-loaded DW, put rubbish and some recycling out, got dressed and had some porridge.
DS2 has just decided what he wants for lunch, so that's next and then the DW can go on again.
DH is bringing milk on his way home and I'm defrosting mince for shepherd's pie, so I won't need to go out today. No snow, but it's cold and icy now.
One of our kids took a beautiful photo of Cologne cathedral from a distance, framed by snowy trees. I'll try to get hold of it and see if I can post it on here.
    Best be off again... x

Well that was a lovely couple of hours. DS came round because he wants to work on a i-phone app and knows he'll get distracted with games if he does it at home so we all decided to walk, with the dog, down to the nearest shops to get a bit of shopping done. It's a long time since I've had a walk with BOTH my children. So, a bit more Christmas shopping was done as the snow fell down..

Need to declutter a few words onto a website then will do some more housework

Have rounded up and sorted washing and first lot on. Found a lump of pork in freezer now defrosting for dinner. Made myself milky coffee now supping.

Need to go and get milk and walk doogie but first

is to look up a website advertised in easycook mag for great meat at great prices, 25 chicken breast for £29.75 so going to have a look. It would mean bulk buying if it looks ok but cheaper in the long run but it is free range and all beef is British unless advertised as not so off I go ................
Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!

This house is freezing eventho the fire is lit and the heating is on.

Dusty hubby didn't manage much sleep last night so spent all night on the sofa. He's away today to bb shooting but he'll be tired when he comes home. Hopefully he hasn't mucked up his sleep.

Plan now is the front hall, it's a total mess and full of wellies, snow suits and coats.
Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough.
And things go wrong no matter what I do.
Now and then it seems that life is just too much.
But you've got the love I need to see me through.

Hubby is going shopping and going to pick up some more supplies of honey and lemon for me :) It's been a real lifesaver for stopping my throat from being raw - I would recommend it to anyone, especially the squeezy bottle type :)
