If weather is a priority then Egypt and the Canaries (in that order) Dubai would be well above your budget.
    £100 - £10,000

    I'd suggest Sultanate of Oman.
    More to do than Dubai.
    Much much better scenery.
    Great beaches.
    Great shopping.

This is also a good idea, annoyed for not having though of it.

I wouldn't say Dubai would necessarily be above budget, due to the financial crisis they have a serious oversupply of hotels and rooms can be very cheap.

    Egypt definitely
Mexico if you shop around and maybe bag a bargain

Maybe Tunisia and morrocco as north Africa supposed to have warm weather all year round or Kenya

I've found Oman to be pretty expensive, and whilst it does indeed benefit from picturesque mountains and the Musandam peninsula is beautiful, I'd argue there's more to do in Dubai and the UAE. You have to be careful though where you end up staying otherwise taxi fares can get a bit much, and taxi drivers here often don't know where they're going! A return flight with Emirates from London to Dubai is usually around £450 per person and you get a 30 day visit stamp on arrival, but then you'd have the hotel on top of that so you might want to look at travel agent deals.

Expect temperatures to be around 35C in April.

If you need anymore information on Dubai I'm currently here so feel free to ask!

don't rely on good weather on the costa del sol - we were there this year from 8 april for 11 nights and didn't have one day when it didn't rain and boy did it rain!

I would recommend the Antalya region of Turkey, somewhere like Lara Beach. Loads of 5 star all-inclusives and expect temperatures in the late 20's. we went early to mid april 2008 and it was superb

Istanbul, Marrakesh, or one of the Tunisian resorts (Sousse or Hammamet). All are outside or Euroland, and better value.

DrsMum I wonder if it varied along the coast then? we were near estepona for the first 4 nights and then moved to Fuengirola for the rest. We were due to fly home on 19 April but due to volcanic ash didn't fly home til 23rd. Of course from 20 to 23 April it was hot and sunny as we weren't supposed to be there! Whereabouts did you stay?
