Got home from shopping on Fri to find a red card from the postman. I thought at first it was one of those "while you were out" cards. But no. This one stated my parcel was waiting for me at the sorting office. There was a tick beside the "Parcel is too large" option. I was a bit confused because I wasn't expecting any large item. And even if I were. Wouldn't it be delivered by the Royal Mail parcel van? I trudged around to the sorting office an Sat morning. Only to find an average sized parcel waiting for me. I got home from collecting this parcel, only to find another red card stating I had two parcels waiting for me at the sorting office. Reason they hadn't been delivered? They were too large. So, now I have to trudge back round to the sorting office again tomorrow morning. I'm feeling really peeved. Since when do people have to collect their own parcels? I thought the postmen were paid to do that. I guess a redelivery isn't an option either, as the postman didn't even try to deliver the first time. It's not as if the sorting office is just around the corner either. Grrrrr

I think Royal Mail are poor and have been for some time, so I don't use them anymore for anything.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

Would these parcels have fit through your letter box? If not they are "too large to deliver" unless of course you prefer they are left on a doorstep to be stolen or spoiled......0

The postman did not even bring them with him. They were left at the sorting office. In fact I just remembered I was in when the first card came through the door. He came just after I got in from shopping. Not the second card. The postman didn't even knock on the door.0 -
Hello.
We had the very same thing happen to us,there is a website you can go on in the royal mail and they will redeliver the parcel for you, obviously you have to be there to recieve it and that can proove difficult for some people due to work.
the web address is www.royalmail.com/redelivery or failing that you can have it dropped off at your local post office for collection there, however you will incur a charge for it to be taken to your local post office.
I hope this has helped.Forum spellcheckers are the pitts.0 -

are you just not grasping the concept? to quote the card
the item couldnt be delivered because:
[] a signature was required
[] its too large
so are you saying that because this was ticked its too large for delivery?
me thinks you are somewhat confused as to what that card means
its too large,as in wont fit through the letterbox
unless you keep letterbox pixies on hand then if it doesnt fit then it doesnt fit0 -

What the OP is saying is the postman is not even attempting to deliver the parcels! They are simply putting the card through the door with the normal post and have not bought the parcel with them in the first place to even see if the householder is in!
It happens in our area all the time!0 -
I'm confused. Were you in or not when they tried to deliver the parcels?0

the OP wasnt home
so how exactly do they know where the package was?
you dont happen to live in a flat do you?0 -
If you've been left a red card one day and then get one the next day it's because there is another parcel for you. Yes you can have your parcels redelivered but you need to arrange this online. If you're not in when they're delivered it's hardly the fault of the Post Office! It is a pain when the parcels are returned to the delivery office but at least you know they are still safe and secure - some private courier companies simply throw them over your gate come rain or shine or leave them in full view - is that how you want to receive your goods? These couriers don't look to see what's the other side of your gate - they could be dropping parcels into a water butt for all they know! It might be worth noting as well that you are paying for one delivery - you surely can't expect Royal Mail to keep bringing your parcels out everyday until eventually they find you in!!! If you order online it's always best to consider if you're going to be in when it's delivered!0

I was home the first time. But the card was put through the door saying the parcel was waiting for me at the sorting office. The postman did not have the parcel with them. It wasn't a red "while you were out" card. It was a card saying "Something for you" When I came back from collecting the parcel there was another card left saying there were two parcels waiting for me. And that they weren't delivered because they were too large. And yes, I do live in a flat, with a conceirge where any parcels could have been left.0
