When I was young our stockings were always unwrapped but I know it was because my parents couldn't afford to spend on wrapping paper etc besides there actually wasn't much in it anyway... I've always wrapped my childrens stocking presents as do my kids for their children..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

and this year I will be trying valiantly to do the same with their bikes!!
I have done this ! Its really not as difficult as it sounds .
but back to the topic - everything is wrapped in our house but the gifts from santa do have different wrapping paper of courseI am journeying to a debt-free life.

When I was a kid, they were unwrapped in a pillowcase at the end of my bed. Now I've got kids of my own I wrap most stuff (slows them down and builds the excitement). They each have their own colour-coded paper (so I can tell whose is whose after a few drinks on Xmas eve
). Small bits are unwrapped in their stocking.

When I was younger all presents were wrapped and I wrap everything for my children too
We have always said that all the presents were from Father Christmas and we just sent him some pennies but this year we have told them that we are getting them their main presents.Slimming World - 3 stone 8 1/2lbs in 7 months and now at target :j0 -
Everything is wrapped in my house other than the big main present, this year its bikes. After reading the posts above I notice that a lot of people use different paper from santa, don't do this as everything comes from santa in my house - wonder if I'm doing myself a little injustice here, hmmm.......0

All presents were wrapped in our house - all presents were from santa and I don't ever remember being concerned that my mum hadn't bought us anything. The best year that I remember is when I had asked for a bike and I opened all my presents but no bike - tbh I had so much I wasn't disappointed. About tea time the front door bell went and outside were two bikes with a note from santa "sorry these are late, they wouldn't fit on my sleigh last night" - my sister and I were astounded and I felt so special that santa had come back from the North Pole with my pressie!:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0

All wrapped in our house - even when I was a kid and money was extremely tight.
Santa's are wrapped in different paper and put in a sack (for santa's use only). The rest are laid out neatly on the settee. Presents off relatives are placed in piles on the floor, by each childs pile of gifts (2 kids).
They have a stocking on the end of their bed which contains little tiny presents (wrapped too), which they are able to open upstairs. Presents downstairs can only be opened when you've had something to eat and not chocolate. LOL.I :heartpuls M.S.E.Mortgage Free 18/01/10 13 years and 8 months early on a 20 year mortgage!

I don't have kids, but I have to say I've wondered about what I'd do! When I was younger everything was wrapped except the big things. But I can't help but think its such a waste, especially for very young kids who need help with it. But I get that it adds to the excitement and anticipation.
I'd like to think that when/if we have kids we'll fill stockings with the small stuff, all unwrapped, and get them to pick the stuff out without looking...adds to the excitement. And wrap up some things to put under the tree to give them a bit of excitement for the run up to xmas. Then with the big/expensive stuff I'd hide it around the living room/house...thats what my mum used to do...we'd open all our gift and think that was it...then she'd pull out the biggies at the final hour...cruel...but it plays on your mind...your left sitting there thinking...there is soo much here, maybe they ran out of money...then BAM!...you got the big gift you asked for!lolThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. What I am doing is leaving out the three present that she has asked for from Santa, they wont be wrapped. Santa only comes to our house, not doing the leaving stuff and grans. Her stocking will be from Santa too, but the rest is from me, which will be all wrapped up. I dont want to get into too many lies.Saving 2.00 coinsGrocerys set to 40.00 pwBeing Thrifty0
